As some of you may or may not know, our care manager of over 40 years, Donna (she doesn’t have a Facebook so please keep this post a secret 🤫), is retiring at the end of the month 😢. We are so sad to see her go and we hope to do something special for her. We would like to get as many people involved as possible! Hi everyone, it has been a while since we last posted. We hope you are all doing well and staying safe! A lot of people have been asking us if we are still open, so we wanted to let you all know that we are still open and accepting referrals during this time. If you have any questions, want more information, or know of a youth who may benefit from our services, please feel free to call us at 845-454-3600.

It’s always a great day when Buddha lets you paint his head! 😁

We are so excited to present to all of you pictures of our brand new art therapy space here at the shelter! We wanted a warm and comfortable environment where our youth could escape from their troubles and really express themselves with art. We also have a “quiet corner” that contains comfortable furniture and some sensory toys. We started to plan this space with Pete, so what better way to honor him than to include him in the room! Our Assistant Manager, Alix is an amazing artist and designed/painted this mural in memory of him with the help of other staff and residents. This mural displays some of his interests which included nature, science, surfing, bees, the city, music, and most importantly...cheese, cheez-it’s, and Diet Coke! The plaque will be hung next to the mural so future residents and staff will always know Pete’s legacy.

Block party is in full force! We have free food, music, activities, face painting, etc. Everyone is having a fun time. If you can, try to come out and enjoy the festivities! 😁

We wanted to share with all of you something amazing that is happening this Saturday, June 30th! Community Matters 2 has organized a community cleanup of Pershing ave at 9:30, and then afterwards at 1pm, there is going to be a huge block party right here on Thompson street!
There are multiple programs coming together to pull this off. We want the community to come together to have a great day and enjoy some FREE food, music, and entertainment!
Alix, our assistant manager will be doing face painting 😁 and we hope to have lawn games going in our driveway. We will also be giving tours of our shelter.
Please come out with your families and enjoy a day of fun! We hope to see you there!
