An active Thursday evening in Pound Ridge:

Shortly after 4 p.m., members responded to Ward Pound Ridge Reservation with ATVs and our Polaris Ranger to assist a fatigued hiker. As crews cleared the scene, they were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident requiring extrication and traffic control. The evening concluded with a response to an automatic fire alarm.

Not every emergency happens on-road.

Pound Ridge Volunteer Fire Department used its Polaris to reach and rescue an injured hiker from difficult terrain, helping bring critical aid where larger vehicles can't go. Proud to support the first responders who answer the call when communities need them most.

Yesterday, October 9th, members of the Pound Ridge Fire Department visited Pound Ridge Elementary School to teach students about fire safety and prevention.

Thank you to the students and staff for welcoming us! We always enjoy spending time with our community’s youngest residents and helping them learn how to stay safe.

With a nor’easter headed our way tomorrow, we’d like to remind everyone that a Coastal Flood Warning is in effect.

The good news: Pound Ridge is not on the coast. Nonetheless, we strongly recommend avoiding swimming, boating, or any other open-water aquatic activities during the storm. We feel reasonably confident this will not disrupt most aquatic plans in 10576 this weekend.

A nice glass of w**e and a charcuterie board, however, pair exceptionally well with a stormy night/day. So get your storm snacks in advance, charge your devices, and settle in.

What does not pair well with w**e, charcuterie, or really anything else: downed electrical lines. Please stay well clear of fallen wires, assume every line is energized, and use good judgment around flooded roads, fallen trees, other storm hazards and reduce travel to stay off the roads when possible so emergency vehicles can safely operate.

As we reflect back on approaching twenty-five years since September 11, 2001, the legacy you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.

We remember those we lost that morning, those we have lost in the years since, and those who continue to fight its lasting effects.

“The life of the dead is set in the memory of the living.” - Cicero

We will never forget.
