This election, the stakes couldn’t be higher, and the path forward depends on all of us.

Whether your primary focus is protecting reproductive freedom, safeguarding our democratic institutions, protecting the environment, or ensuring economic fairness for working families, there is one overriding threat that unites all our concerns.

This election season, consider being a single-issue voter: Vote against Donald Trump and reject the chaos, corruption, and cruelty he represents.

In December 2019, Poway was under its first-ever boil-water advisory. Restaurants were closed, schools were handing out bottled water, and families were lining up at Lake Poway for cases of water.

Peter De Hoff stepped up to the microphone, drank a bottle of water he said was from his tap at home, and called it “a taste of freedom.”

Public health isn’t a punchline. District 3 deserves a councilmember who takes our safety seriously.

Governor Gavin Newsom recently signed several key bills into law that will directly impact our state and region. Here are a few critical updates we are proud to share with our community:

San Diego Housing Expansion: Legislation was signed to advance housing and redevelopment at the former Sports Arena site in San Diego, supporting a project with at least 4,250 homes, which includes 2,000 affordable homes, a new entertainment venue, and public open space.

Worker Protections and AI: The “No Robo Bosses Act” (SB 947) was signed into law, prohibiting employers from relying solely on automated decision systems to make disciplinary or termination decisions, effective July 1, 2027.

Child Marriage Ban: In a massive victory for human rights and safety, California passed a historic measure to completely ban anyone from marrying a person under the age of 18. This long-fought legislation makes California the 18th state to outlaw the practice, closing a loophole to better protect vulnerable youth from forced marriages.

Ten years. That’s how long we’ve been at this.

🗓️ Oct. 7, 2016: The Access Hollywood tape broke, revealing Donald Trump's approach to women, where he stated, “You can do anything.”
🗓️ Oct. 7, 2021: The Senate Judiciary Committee released a draft report on his attempts to use the DOJ to overturn the 2020 election. The investigation found that he “grossly abused the power of the presidency.”
🗓️ Oct. 7, 2026: From the Oval Office, Trump told reporters regarding his political opponents: “I can do whatever I want, if I want.”

When a leader tells the country who they are for a decade, we must believe them. To our neighbors: our constitutional republic relies on leaders who respect the rule of law, not those who believe they are above it.

"History teaches that the rule of law is rarely destroyed all at once. It is often weakened by attacks on the institutions and public servants sworn to uphold it." — Jack Smith, special counsel for the U.S. Department of Justice.

The rule of law is a cornerstone of our democracy. We must support those who stand up for justice, even in the face of unprecedented attacks. This November, vote for democrats who believe in upholding our constitution.

Local city council seats are where community-first decisions happen every day. Whether addressing local infrastructure, public safety, or sustainable development, we believe in supporting candidates with the qualifications and vision to serve all residents effectively.

Following our recent meeting, we are pleased to share that Bob Walder, candidate for Poway City Council, District 3, has been rated Qualified.

While the Poway Democratic Club exclusively endorses Democratic candidates, we evaluate and rate No Party Preference (NPP) candidates in races with no democrats running, to help voters identify pragmatic, community-focused leaders who demonstrate integrity and strong qualifications.
