Washington County Arkansas Judge Patrick Deakins has issued a county wide burn ban beginning today, August 11, at noon.

“Right now, we have to consider not only the threat of fire, but also the conditions our firefighters and other emergency responders are working in,” said Judge Deakins. With temperatures in the upper 90s and heat indexes expected to exceed 100 degrees, the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion and heat stroke is very real. “A burn ban will not eliminate every fire, but it can reduce the number of preventable fires caused by outdoor burning. Every fire we can prevent means one less situation where we are asking our first responders to work in these extreme conditions.”

Our sincere thanks and appreciation go to Mary Wheeler and her two grandsons, Anderson Lloyd and Carson Lloyd, who held a lemonade stand at their home this past weekend and raised $56.00!

The boys stopped by the Prairie Grove Police Department today to donate every dollar they earned to the Prairie Grove Shop With a Cop program.

We are truly humbled by their generosity and grateful for their kind hearts.
