Sauk Prairie Ambulance The Sauk Prairie Ambulance Association was established in 1969 to provide emergency prehospital care

The Sauk Prairie Ambulance Association was established in 1969 to provide emergency prehospital care and transportation to an advanced care facility. The first ambulance and crews began serving the community in 1969. The Association is currently an EMT-Intermediate Tech service. The Association's district consists of the villages of Sauk City, Prairie du Sac and Merrimac; the townships of Merrimac, Prairie du Sac, and Roxbury; and parts of the townships of Troy, Honey Creek, Sumpter and West Point. By a contract, those municipalities have delegated management of the Association to an Ambulance Service Commission. The Commission consists of a representative from each municipality and township. The Commission governs the administrative and financial aspects of the Association.

It is with profound sadness that Sauk Prairie Ambulance announces the passing of Lieutenant Janet Ramsey.

Janet began serving with Sauk Prairie Ambulance in September 2003, earning her EMT-Basic license in 2004 and AEMT certification in 2005. During more than two decades of service, she served as Crew Chief and Lieutenant and was named EMT of the Year in 2007.

Janet’s dedication to helping others extended far beyond the ambulance. She pursued continued education throughout her career, became a Mental Health First Responder, served with the Sauk County Search and Rescue Team, and joined Dane County District One EMS in 2023.

Outside of EMS, Janet was a passionate advocate for organ donation, participating in Transplant Games across the country and around the world. She also dedicated many years to breast cancer advocacy, supporting Susan G. Komen and advocating for research funding and legislative change.

Janet devoted so much of her life to serving, advocating for, and caring for others. Her impact on our service and the countless people whose lives she touched will not be forgotten.

Our deepest condolences are with Janet’s family, friends, coworkers, and fellow first responders.

Rest easy, Janet. We’ll take it from here.
