💜🖤 From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who came out to honor and send our brother, past Chief and Commissioner Randy C. Brainerd, off the way he deserved.

Despite the weather, the turnout was truly incredible. Seeing so many people come together to honor Randy was a powerful reminder of how many lives he touched and how much he meant to our department, our community, and the fire service.

We are forever grateful for the love, support, and respect shown to Randy and his family. We know he’ll be watching over us all.

Thank you, Chief. Rest easy, brother. We’ll take it from here. 💜🖤

Great job last night by our members, along with Greene County EMS paramedics, Ashland Ambulance, LifeNet 7-1, GCSO and NYSP. Around 11:30pm PHC was dispatched to a MVA with 9-1-1 receiving a vehicle and/or cell phone crash notification with no voice contact. On arrival, it was apparent the vehicle exited the road entering the ditch then losing control, rolling approximately 2-3 times. Quick and professional action was taken to rescue a woman and her 3 dogs. Patient condition is unknown, but she was conscious and semi alert prior to flight.

It is with an incredibly heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Randy C. Brainerd Sr.

Randy was a 47-year Life Member of the Prattsville Hose Company, serving 20 years as Fire Chief and most recently as a Commissioner. For nearly five decades, Randy dedicated a tremendous part of his life to this fire company, his fellow firefighters, and the community he proudly served.

To many, Randy was a Chief, a Commissioner, and a fellow firefighter. But to those who knew him, he was so much more — a friend, a mentor, a brother, and someone you could count on when it mattered most.

His years of service were measured not only in calls answered, meetings attended, or fires fought, but in the countless lives he touched along the way. The impact Randy had on the Prattsville Hose Company and the people of our community will remain with us for generations to come.

The Prattsville Hose Company has lost a true leader, a dedicated firefighter, and a brother. His absence will be deeply felt around our firehouse and throughout our community.

Our deepest condolences go out to Randy’s family, loved ones, friends, and everyone who had the honor of knowing and serving alongside him.

Rest easy, Chief.

Thank you for 47 years of dedication, sacrifice, and service.

Your watch is over. We’ll take it from here. 🚒🖤

Details and info on services will be provided in the coming days.

FASNY applauds the New York State Legislature for passing the volunteer firefighter tax credit bill in both houses.

This important legislation provides meaningful relief to the 80,000 volunteer firefighters across New York and helps offset rising costs such as fuel, training, and equipment.
This is a major step forward in supporting volunteer firefighters and strengthening the future of New York’s volunteer fire service as part of FASNY’s 14 Point Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment and Retention Plan.

The bill is now on its way to Kathy Hochul’s desk. We encourage her to sign it into law.

Today, we pause as a community and as a fire service family to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Memorial Day is more than a day of reflection—it is a solemn reminder of the courage, dedication, and selflessness demonstrated by those who gave their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy each day. Their commitment to something greater than themselves continues to inspire us in our own mission of service.

As firefighters, we understand the meaning of duty, sacrifice, and standing ready when called. We recognize and deeply respect those who answered their nation’s call and never returned home.

We extend our gratitude to the families who carry the memory of their loved ones and whose strength endures beyond their loss.

Today, we remember. We honor. We will never forget.

From all of us at PHC, may we carry forward their legacy with gratitude, service, and remembrance.

🙏🇺🇸
