Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, dispatchers, and everyday citizens who answered the call with courage and sacrifice.

For the fire service, this day carries a weight that is difficult to put into words. We remember the 343 FDNY firefighters who never returned home, and we honor the families, coworkers, and communities forever changed.

May we continue to carry their legacy forward through service, training, leadership, and commitment to one another.

No day shall erase you from the memory of time. We will never forget.

💜 Today, our wildland fire family mourns another heartbreaking loss. Randy is the 14th wildland fire fatality this season. The weight of each loss is felt across crews, agencies and families across the country.

Our thoughts are with Randy’s family, friends, coworkers and all who knew and loved him. We also hold close the memory of all those no longer with us. Gone, but never forgotten.

We are saddened to share the identity of the crewmember we lost on the Frijoles Fire in northern New Mexico on Sunday. Randy Lupe, 62, of the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation in Arizona, died following a medical emergency.

Lupe was a U.S. Wildland Fire Service temporary emergency support crewmember on the San Carlos camp crew, which was supporting federal wildfire response on the Frijoles Fire.
Out of consideration for the family, the Interior Department is not releasing additional medical information at this time.

This loss is felt deeply across the wildland firefighting community, and our thoughts are with all those affected.

🐻🥳Happy 82nd Birthday, Smokey!

For generations, Smokey Bear has reminded us that wildfire prevention starts with each of us. Today, we honor his legacy and the role education plays in protecting our communities and wildlands.

2026 Week of Remembrance | June 30–July 6
Week of Remembrance 2026 has been spent in reflection of incidents that occurred during the 2016 fire season, 10 years ago. Today, on the 32nd anniversary of the South Canyon Fire, we also remember the Fallen 14 who lost their lives on Storm King Mountain in 1994. We honor you through our commitment to learning. You are not forgotten.

🇺🇸🎆 Happy Fourth of July
Celebrate big, laugh loud, and keep the only thing smoking... the BBQ. 🌭🔥

Have a fun, safe, and fire-smart Fourth of July!
Check fire restrictions at https://wildlandfire.az.gov

07/03/2026

Celebrate wisely this Fourth of July and leave the fireworks up to the professionals.

While the purchase and use of fireworks may be legal right now, that doesn't mean they are safe. Under Arizona Revised Statute § 36-1606, permissible consumer fireworks may be sold and used during designated dates, including around the Fourth of July holiday.

But, even legal fireworks can start fast-moving wildfires due to our hot and dry conditions.

Thousands of firefighters remain committed to multiple incidents across the state. Don't add another fire to their already heavy workload. And another reminder that fireworks are never allowed on State Trust or federal lands.

Please do your part to prevent wildfires and leave the shows up to the pros!🧨
