Ron Williams is the Prescott Constable - an elected county peace officer who serves all papers and processes, eviction actions, warrants and asset seizures ordered by the Prescott Justice Court or other competent authority. The Prescott Precinct covers Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley and the unincorporated communities of Skull Valley, Williamson Valley, Walker and Paulden.

Apparently the man who shot up the veterinarian office in Prescott last week has been released on a $7500 bond, meaning with $750 cash and securities he was released into the public again.....

Releasing a person who has shot up a building in town on what is essentially the value of a car payment is absurd and does not make Prescott safer.

The judge who approved this absurdly low bond is an appointed superior court bureaucrat who is not directly responsible to the public.

This goes back to my complaint several months ago where I mentioned how over the last several years, the elected justices of the peace have been pushed out of these matters. A justice of the peace is directly responsible to their electorate and can be held responsible for their rulings. A JP lives in the precinct they preside in, and their communities safety is their own safety. The JP also will most likely hold the values of their constituents, and cannot be controlled by anyone but their constituents' votes.

PLEASE VOTE YES ON PROP 497 THIS NOVEMBER

Most of you know I am against raising taxes. Prop 497 is a quarter cent increase ($0.0025 per dollar) in the existing Yavapai County Jail Tax District fund. This tax pays for both the jail in the Verde Valley and the Prescott Jail. Currently the tax rate is $0.0025 per dollar. The current tax is insufficient for the Jail District, and the county is (property owners are) paying the difference out of the General Fund. The Board of Supervisors has already stated that they will lower your property taxes by the same rate as the Jail District tax increase, meaning we as property tax payers will not see an increase overall - in fact, you will see your property tax bill go down! As Yavapai County is a tourist destination (Sedona, Prescott, etc.) we as residents will not be carrying the entirety of the tax burden on our own - tourists will help pay it.

I support 497 and urge you to vote "YES" in November!!

If you receive an Order of Protection from a court in Arizona, there is no fee from the court, OR a fee to serve this document as outlined in ARS 13-3602 (D).

The Arizona Constables Association was made aware that some private process servers are charging domestic violence victims for this service. The average cost of serving was $187. One victim was charged $3,300. More than 90 cases were found in about two hours of looking with about 400 declarations of service still to look at.
