What a great day! Today, Ryan gave a tour of the Ambulances and Firetrucks to a group from the DAC. We talked about many different safety aspects and what we do. We also talked about fire prevention topics being it is Fire Prevention Week. The group was super excited to try out some gear and see the rigs. Days like today make the bad days in this career so much better and are a good reminder of why we do what we do.

OCTOBER 3, 2026- SPRING VALLEY, MN

👉This past weekend, our Spring Valley Area Ambulance EMT cohort jumped right into Airway Management; including NREMT Testable Skills, Airway adjuncts, suctioning, ventilations and more!

Students need to have confidence in the people teaching them. As instructors, our job is not only to teach the skills and knowledge required to become an EMT, but also to create an environment where students feel supported, challenged, and comfortable asking questions.

Confidence is built not given. Every successful skill, scenario, question answered, and mistake learned from helps a student grow. Our encouragement, feedback, and belief in their abilities can make a tremendous difference.

As instructors, we should strive to send students into the field knowing that they may not know everything yet but they know how to think, how to act, and where to turn for help. Building that confidence is just as important as teaching the skill itself.

***September Recap***

September was another busy month for us with 61 calls for service. Year to date we have had around 420 calls for service which is 85 more calls than last year at this time. We had in service training as well at our monthly meeting which covered medications and the use of the new protocol APP. We are always training to make sure our skills are sharp when the community needs us most.

Thank you to all our volunteers for everything they do to make this Ambulance Service 🚑 run smoothly day to day.

Another First Aid/CPR/AED class in the books for a local employer! Preston EMS offers many different types of CPR/AED and first aid classes. Whether you want it online or in person we can help you out. The more people trained to give high quality CPR during an emergency the better rate of survival.

Today started the journey for many individuals in SE Minnesota to become EMS providers for our local area. We are lucky to have two people completing EMR and one doing EMT. It will be exciting to watch these future providers in class learn and excel.

SEPTEMBER 26, 2026- SPRING VALLEY, MN

🚑 The Journey to Becoming an EMS Provider Begins! 🚑

Today, our 21 EMT and EMR students took their important first step in their educational journey by completing American Heart Association's BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR) certification.

BLS for Healthcare Providers is more than just a certification, it establishes the foundation for recognizing life-threatening emergencies, performing high-quality CPR, working as a team, and providing lifesaving care. The true foundation of why the EMS system was developed; out-of-hospital cardiac arrests.

This is just the beginning of their journey. Over the next few months, these students will build their knowledge, skills, confidence, and clinical judgment as they work toward becoming certified Emergency Medical Technicians, or Emergency Medical Responders.

👏 Congratulations to our Fall 2026 students on taking the first step toward joining the EMS profession and serving their communities!

📅Courses to be held September 24, 2026 to December 19, 2026.

⏰Join our weekly Virtual Meetings, Thursdays (7PM-9PM) and Skills/Scenario Days Saturday (9AM- 12PM)

🤏Not looking for the full EMT Course, we will be running a concurrent Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course; same time, same days, reduced price, with different curriculum requirements!

🩺Are you a Registered Nurse (RN) looking to give back to your community and volunteer on your local First Responder or Ambulance Service? We got you covered! We'll also have RN-to-EMT options for the course; condensed curriculum, skills/scenario days, and Field Experiences with local Ambulance Services, all with that beloved reduced price!

We hope everyone had a safe and fun Labor Day weekend! We are grateful for all the hardworking people on our service who volunteer their time to help our communities yet also work other jobs!

August was busier than ever for us. We had 57 calls for service. Year to date we have had over 360 calls for service. We also had two trainings this month. Our first training consisted of going over 12 lead ECGs which are highly important for pre hospital care. We also completed training with the Preston Fire Department doing vehicle extrication.
