🚨 DEA ALERT: EMERGING DRUG THREAT – CYCHLORPHINE 🚨
Staying informed about emerging drug trends can save lives!
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is warning communities about Cychlorphine, a powerful synthetic opioid that may be up to 10 times more potent than fentanyl.
Cychlorphine has been detected in the illegal drug supply, sometimes mixed with fentanyl, co***ne, methamphetamine, and other substances without the user's knowledge. Even small amounts can cause a potentially fatal overdose.
⚠️ What should you know?
- Cychlorphine has been linked to overdose deaths across the United States.
- Standard fentanyl test strips do not detect this substance.
- An overdose may require multiple doses of naloxone (Narcan).
- Counterfeit pills and illegal drugs may contain dangerous substances that cannot be identified by appearance.
Why does this matter to Calvert County?
Drug trends are constantly changing, and substances emerging in other communities can eventually make their way into ours. Awareness, prevention education, and open conversations are important steps in protecting our families, friends, and neighbors.
CAASA encourages residents to stay informed, talk with loved ones about the dangers of unknown substances, and never take medications obtained outside a licensed pharmacy.
If you suspect an overdose, call 911 immediately and administer naloxone if available.
