Week 7 of the Princeton Police Department Citizens Academy is complete!

This week, our Emergency Response Team (ERT), a joint team made up of members from the Princeton Police Department and the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office, gave a presentation explaining the team’s duties, roles, and responsibilities.

Following the presentation, participants were taken to a vacant residence in town, where they put their teamwork and team building skills to the test by completing a scenario based on what they had learned about emergency response teams.

Everyone did a fantastic job participating and working together to achieve the desired outcome.

One more week to go! We’re looking forward to wrapping up another great Citizens Academy!

Week 6 of the Princeton Police Department Citizens Academy wrapped up tonight!

This week, participants learned about crime scene processing from our Crime Scene Investigator. They also got an inside look at criminal investigations and accident reconstruction from our detectives/accident reconstructionist.

We appreciate our officers and investigators taking the time to share their knowledge and give participants a better understanding of the many aspects of law enforcement.

Great job to everyone participating in this year’s Citizens Academy! We look forward to seeing everyone next week!

A big thank you to Hillside Preschool for having us out this week! 👮‍♂️

This is something we look forward to doing every year. We love the opportunity to interact with the children, answer their questions, and spend some time with these amazing kids!

This week, the children were learning the letter P. What better way to learn than having some POLICE officers show up to hang out! 🚔

Officer George and Officer Carpenter didn’t want to leave and to go back to work !

Thank you, Hillside Preschool, for allowing us to be part of your week. We always enjoy spending time with the kids and being involved in our community!

E-BIKE AWARENESS – KNOW THE RULES!

Electric bikes (E-bikes) are becoming increasingly popular, not only here in our community but also in surrounding communities.

The Princeton Police Department wants to remind everyone that it’s important to understand the laws, rules, and regulations that apply when operating an E-bike. Knowing the rules helps keep riders, pedestrians, motorists, and our entire community safe.

A few important reminders:
✅ Know the classification of your E-bike and where you are legally allowed to ride.
✅ Follow applicable traffic laws, signs, and signals.
✅ Always yield to pedestrians and ride responsibly around others.
✅ Wear a properly fitted helmet and use lights and reflective equipment when appropriate.
✅ Be aware of age requirements and any restrictions that may apply to your E-bike.
✅ Parents, take time to understand the rules and talk with your children about safe riding practices.

E-bikes can be a fun and convenient way to get around, but with that comes the responsibility to ride safely and follow the law.

The Princeton Police Department encourages everyone to educate themselves before hitting the road. A little awareness can go a long way toward preventing accidents and keeping our community safe!

Stay safe, ride smart, and know the rules!

A big thank you to the Irreverent Warriors for having Chief Wood out today to talk about, self defense techniques, and tools that can help keep you safe.

These ladies are true warriors! Every one of them is a female veteran, and it was an honor to spend some time with them and share a few self defense tips.

Thank you all for your service, your sacrifice, and for having me out today. It was a great time with an incredible group of women! 💪🇺🇸
