Last week, PDS celebrated our first Summer Work Symposium, highlighting the projects, pursuits, and learning that students explored over the summer.

Among the students featured were recipients of two awards honoring the legacies of PDS alumni: the Ariel Ruvinsky ’08 Memorial Art Award and the Mark L. Zaininger ’81 Award. Both awards give students the opportunity to pursue their interests and extend their learning beyond the classroom.

We were especially grateful to have members of the Ruvinsky and Zaininger families with us to celebrate these students and see the impact of these awards firsthand. It was wonderful to see the connection between these alumni legacies and the students carrying that work forward today.

Back to school at PDS! Yesterday marked the first day of school, so we’re taking a look back at a few first days from years past. A few familiar faces, a few familiar places, and plenty of memories.

A new school year is underway! This week, faculty and staff are back on campus for opening meetings as we get ready to welcome our students for 2026–27.

This look back at opening meetings in 1991 is a good reminder that while a lot has changed over the years, the start of a new school year still feels familiar.

Here’s to another great year in the Great Road!

Alumni Spotlight! As soccer takes center stage this summer, we’re celebrating Andrew Bing ’84, a PDS soccer standout who was inducted into the Mercer County Soccer Hall of Fame earlier this year as a member of the Class of 2026.

At PDS, Andrew helped lead the Panthers to three Prep B state championships and a 34-game unbeaten streak, earning All County and First Team Prep B All State honors, along with a Mercer County Co-Championship.

He went on to play at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, as a four-year starter and three-time team MVP before playing professionally with the Boston Bolts of the American Soccer League.

Last week, we celebrated the Class of 2026 at the Senior Alumni Induction Lunch.

Next week, they’ll gather on the Colross Lawn for Commencement and officially become the newest members of the PDS alumni community.

The countdown is on!

Before he was one of Maryland’s leading scorers, Diggy Coit ‘19 was a four-year varsity basketball player at PDS, a Peer Group Leader, and an active member of our Black Student Union. He graduated in 2019 without a Division I offer.
Earlier this month, Diggy came back fresh off a standout season — two-time Big Ten Player of the Week, AP National Player of the Week — and spent the day with students across all three divisions.
In one classroom, a group of 4th graders watched a few minutes of his highlight reel. When it ended, he told them the moments that didn’t make the reel were the ones that got him to where he is today.
“It takes a lot more lowlights than highlights.”

Today’s the day! Alumni Weekend officially kicks off, and we can’t wait to celebrate our incredible alumni community, especially those marking milestone reunions in classes ending in 1s and 6s.

There’s still time to join us for a weekend full of reconnecting, reminiscing, and celebrating all things PDS.
