One of our amazing attorneys, Alexyss Coles, was asked to speak on the panel of West Virginia University’s Passing the Torch!

Passing the Torch is a conversation centered on the experiences of Black women navigating, thriving, and
leading within predominantly white institutions and spaces.

Through different generations, careers, and stages of life, the conversation between five panelists and the
audience will explore identity, belonging, professionalism, advocacy, leadership, community, and the
importance of Black women supporting and learning from one another.

Today’s WINSday Storytime truly is a WIN for our mission and West Virginia children!

We are SO excited to announce somewhat new opportunity at ChildLaw Services!!

Having volunteer fundraisers are not new to us, or most nonprofit organizations. We have had many amazing and generous people give their time, effort, talents, and networks to selflessly raise funds for ChildLaw.

They have done so because they believe in the work we do, we have made a difference in their lives or someone they know, want to help spread awareness to the services and programs we facilitate, align with our mission, and/or dedicated to assure our mission continues!

Several months ago one of our staff was discussing an upcoming fundraising campaign with a friend and CLS supporter. The friend was more than listening, they were on board with helping! They even built another fundraising campaign while having lunch.

From there they came up with a whole new volunteer opportunity to assist with our fundraising efforts, The Giving Network!

The Giving Network is made up of individuals, just like you, who commit to helping with a specific campaign, a specific event, or a specific amount of time, or with a specific dollar goal in mind. We call these volunteers Giving Ambassadors and Giving Champions depending on the level of funds raised.

The Giving Network involves helping ChildLaw raise money and awareness through community outreach, event coordination, or peer-to-peer campaigns.

Peer-to-Peer Fundraisers: You set up a personal page (via tools like GoFundMe Pro) to collect donations from your own network for a specific cause, campaign, or challenge (because we’ve already have one Giving Ambassador throw down a challenge to our team!).

Event & Concession Volunteers: You help staff and/or plan fundraising events, silent auctions, galas, or stadium/arena concession stands where groups earn a percentage commission on sales.

Skills-Based / Digital Ambassadors: You assist with grant research, social media promotion, virtual advocacy, or email marketing campaigns.

The opportunities are endless. We welcome your creativity and ideas to help us build the next 25 years here at ChildLaw! Please contact us if you are interested in becoming part of our Giving Network!
