What an inspiring evening of stories, ideas and community! 📚✨

On Oct. 1, the Friends & Foundation of Princeton Public Library welcomed acclaimed author Min Jin Lee to Nassau Presbyterian Church for “Beyond Words,” a special fundraiser benefiting Princeton Public Library.

In a lively conversation with Princeton University professor Eddie S. Glaude Jr., Lee shared the incredible story of how she became a writer and took the audience behind the pages of her new novel, “American Hagwon.” She explained what hagwons are, talked about the book’s characters and themes, and reflected on the state of our world.

But some of the most memorable moments came when Lee spoke about the importance of having a community that lifts you up and about the invaluable role libraries have played in her life.

It was a wonderful reminder that books can bring us together, spark important conversations and help us better understand one another. No wonder the evening ended with a standing ovation.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this special evening possible. Thank you to the Friends & Foundation of Princeton Public Library for hosting this incredible event, and to the sponsors who made it all possible. ❤️

📚🚨 CAUGHT READING! 🚨📚

This Banned Books Week, our library staff have been proudly caught reading banned and challenged books — and we’re not stopping anytime soon. 📚
Libraries are places where everyone should have the opportunity to read, learn, ask questions, explore different perspectives and discover stories that speak to them. That’s why we’ll continue to champion access to books and the freedom to read. ❤️

And if you spotted our new Banned Books Week T-shirts in the Reel… 👀👕 they’re available at the library! Stop by and grab yours while supplies last.

The library is today's rain location. Come on in to enjoy music, crafts and so much more this afternoon.

Thank you Palmer Square - Princeton NJ for your support every year. We are sad that we cannot be outside today, but look forward to next year. Big thanks also to Princeton Federal Credit Union, Princeton University Art Museum and McCarter Theatre Center for your ongoing commitment to funding this event. The library, Palmer Square and Mi Pueblo Lindo Heritage Arts could not do this without your support. Thanks also to Lake Smithfield Studios for your support and to all the performers and vendors who show up every year.

We are moving the Palmer Square portion of today’s Festival Cultural Latino to Hinds Plaza and the Princeton Public Library.

All performances will take place indoors in the library’s Community Room. As well as the children’s activities, including face painting. ❤️ A heartfelt thank-you to our partners at the Princeton Public Library for welcoming us indoors and helping make today’s celebration possible!

Join us TODAY, 1–5 PM, to celebrate our Latino cultures and heritage together!
