Firefighters is a program dedicated to teaching local youth ages 12-17 about the fire service, operated by Lieutenant Frank Gould and Firefighter Chayse Perry. It is almost as if we have our own little group of firefighters we do our own fundraising as well as help the Proctorsville Volunteer Fire Dept with its fundraising. To be a Jr FF you must live in the area of Proctorsville Vt and be between the ages of 12 and 17. We attend all fire dept events including trainings, meetings, fundraisers and a 1 week cadet academy at the Vt Fire Academy. As a Jr FF you will learn the skills it takes to be a firefighter and make a positive impact in the outcome of an emergency.

Tonight the Juniors worked along side the department membership, as well as multiple members from Cavendish Fire Dept for training on ladder Raises and Carries, Ropes and Knots, and Hoisting Tools.

Skills like these are invaluable to our juniors as when they are 16 they are able to respond to emergencies and work to support the firefighters doing background jobs like these around the fireground.

To learn more about the program please message the page directly, comment on this post, or come to the Proctorsville Fire Department Tuesdays at 6pm.
