DEA TAKE BACK DAY IS THIS SATURDAY, OCOTBER 24– DISPOSE OF YOUR UNWANTED, UNUSED, EXPIRED PRESCRIPTION PILLS:
Event Details
· Date & Time: Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM local time.
· Cost: Free and anonymous with no questions asked.
· Purpose: To provide a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unneeded, expired, or unused prescription medications and prevent drug abuse and accidental poisonings.
What You Can and Cannot Bring
· Accepted: Tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs. Liquid products in sealed original containers are typically accepted by most locations.
· Not Accepted: Syringes, sharps, and illicit drugs.
How to Find a Drop-Off Location
· The Prospect Park Police Department is participating, and it will be located in the main lobby of the Prospect Park Municipal Building at 106 Brown Ave Prospect Park, NJ 07508

BOROUGH OF PROSPECT PARK – COLUMBUS DAY NOTICE
Attention All Prospect Park Residents!
In observance of Columbus Day on Monday, October 12, 2026, please be advised of the following holiday schedule:

MUNICIPAL OFFICES: All Borough municipal offices will be CLOSED.

GARBAGE COLLECTION: Garbage collection WILL TAKE PLACE as regularly scheduled. Residents should place their garbage out as usual.

ALTERNATE-SIDE PARKING: Regular alternate-side parking regulations will be SUSPENDED for the day.
OFFICE REOPENING: Municipal offices will reopen on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, during regular business hours.

Attention Residents:
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We see the pink ribbons, celebrate survivors, honor those we’ve lost, and support those still fighting.
But October is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month. And many of its survivors fought their battles in silence.

On October 6, 2026, SPO. 1 Escobar and Sergeant Daghstani observed a tan Ford Escape entering North 6th Street and traveling in the wrong direction, as North 6th Street is designated as a one-way street. Sergeant Daghstani stopped the vehicle at the intersection of North 6th Street and Brown Avenue. Upon approaching the driver, later identified as Alberto Santos, a strong odor of alcohol was detected. Mr. Santos subsequently underwent a series of standard field sobriety tests. As a result, he was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated (DWI) and transported to headquarters for processing. BDJ Towing towed the vehicle.

Mr. Santos was issued the following motor vehicle summonses:
1. 39:4-85.1 Wrong Way on One-Way Street
2. 39:4-96 Reckless Driving
3. 39:4-97 Careless Driving: Likely to Endanger Person or Property
4. 39:4-97.2 Unsafe Operation of Vehicle
5. 39:4-50 Operating Under the Influence of Liquor or Drugs

The defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
