Rhode Island families and small businesses shouldn't have to watch their hard-earned savings get sucked away just to keep the lights on and the heat running.

The RI Senate Republicans consistently push to restructure renewable energy timelines, eliminate surcharges and hidden policy fees, demand regulatory cost-benefit reviews, return immediate savings to ratepayers, and sponsor affordable, reliable solutions that don't bite into your financial peace of mind.

Happy Columbus Day from the Rhode Island Senate Republicans!

Today, we honor the courage, faith, and perseverance of the bold explorers who laid the foundation for Western civilization in the New World. We proudly celebrate Rhode Island's vibrant Italian-American community, whose hard work and deep patriotism continue to shape the Ocean State.

We mark this day with deep respect for our nation's history, our shared heritage, and the enduring values that make America a beacon of freedom and opportunity.

It's time to stop treating working families like an endless revenue stream for utility companies and the government.

You shouldn’t just survive—you deserve to thrive.

Senator Elaine J. Morgan attended the Hopkinton Liberty Tree Planting as part of the RI 250 Commission celebration of America's founding.

"Decades from now, future generations of Hopkinton residents will stand in the shade of this tree. They will look up at these branches and remember that we stood here today, dedicated to keeping the original American ideals alive for them," Senator Morgan told attendees.

Liberty Trees will be planted in all 39 cities and towns across the state.

Happy National Rhode Island Day!

We might be the smallest state in the country, but we've made a massive impact right from the very start as the first colony to declare independence from British rule.

So raise a glass of coffee milk, enjoy some stuffies, clam cakes, and hot wieners, and celebrate all that is unique to our beautiful Ocean State!

Senator Gordon Rogers attended Foster’s Liberty Tree planting, part of the RI250 Commission’s celebration of America’s founding coordinated by Secretary of State Gregg Amore.

Senator Rogers remarked “that liberty takes constant work. It requires us to stand guard over our constitutional rights, respect our heritage, and protect the local control that keeps our communities strong”.

Here’s to the next 250 years of American independence.

Same story, different day: RI taxpayers are paying too much and getting too little.

A new RIPEC report finds that “a concentrated focus on bridge construction has led to nation-leading debt burdens, underfunded routine maintenance, and non-interstate secondary roads that rank worst in the country”.

Rhode Islanders are getting bottom tier roads for top tier pricing.

As 1 of only 12 states with an estate tax, Rhode Island is officially an outlier - taking up to 16% of a legacy you already paid taxes on, whether those assets are liquid or not.

RI Senate Republicans are fighting to reduce and phase this unfair double-taxation out. Your life's work belongs to your family, not the government.

Rhode Island has some of the highest residential energy costs in the nation.

State Senate Minority Whip Gordon Rogers (R-Foster, Coventry, Scituate, West Greenwich) was one of the politicians that received a failing grade in ECRI’s ranking. In an email to The Herald, Rogers wrote that his priorities on the committee have been to “set goals we can meet, keep pace with our neighboring states and be honest with people about the cost.”

Rogers touted “realism” as his guiding principle, noting that the “original timeline (for the Renewable Energy Standard deadline) can’t be met.”

“ECRI and I disagree about how to get there, not about whether clean air and clean water matter,” he wrote. “Affordability and reliability come first.”

Out of the 144 bills ECRI monitored and advocated for in 2025-26, only 39 were passed.
