Today's ribbon cutting at Frank D. Spaziano marks another milestone in modernizing Providence's school buildings and investing in the students who will shape our city's future. A safe, welcoming, and supportive environment is essential for learning - and today is a proud reminder of that. When we invest in our schools, we invest in our children, our neighborhoods and a stronger Providence.

Every Providence resident deserves a safe, stable and affordable place to call home. As rising housing costs continue to stretch family budgets, my administration has been focused on helping neighbors stay in their homes and building more affordable housing across our city.

On November 3 for the general election, we're asking for support to continue the development of affordable housing by voting yes on question number #6. An approval vote will help to secure $25 million in funds to finance affordable housing projects in the City to keep the momentum going.

Since taking office almost four years ago, Education has been one of my administrations top priorities. We've made significant progress that has been essential to one of our greatest achievements - Providence schools returning to local management.

From expanding access to Universal Pre-K to investing hundreds of millions of dollars in school construction, and from strengthening mentorship programs to providing free summer meals for students, we're incredibly proud of all we've accomplished. Providence students represent the future of our city and investing in them is the most important investment we can make for Providence.

This morning, we celebrate the vital work of the Ever Hope Center in supporting our community. Tragedies like the ones at Brown University and the Dennis M. Lynch Arena remind us how deeply violence affects us all, long after the immediate crisis passes. Resources like the Ever Hope Center are essential in our community to ensuring people receive the care, healing and support they need.

The City of Providence is now accepting nominations for the 23rd annual Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. We're honoring local leaders who uplift Dr. King's legacy through their work in equity, civil rights, and justice.

Know someone who embodies this spirit? Send in your nomination letter by November 30. Nominees should be Providence residents or individuals who've made significant community impact in the city. Letters should highlight how the nominee carries Dr. King's mission.

It was a pleasure to spend the weekend celebrating one of Providence's most cherished traditions. Our Italian community has long played a vital role in shaping the social, cultural and economic threads that make our city so special, leaving a lasting impact.

Our city's greatest strength comes from the diversity of our people. Each community brings its own rich traditions and cultural influences, creating the vibrant and welcoming Providence we're proud to call home.

It was a pleasure to spend this morning with students at Achievement First discussing the various responsibilities of public service. Our youth represent the future of Providence, and educating them on how local government operates is essential to ensuring they are informed about the decisions that shape our community each day.
