I am deeply honored to share that I will be receiving the Marjorie Waters Impact Award from the Senior Agenda Coalition of Rhode Island.

This recognition is especially meaningful to me because Marjorie Waters dedicated her work to dignity, advocacy, independence, and ensuring that older adults and vulnerable members of our communities had a voice.

One description of her approach especially resonates with me: don’t assume you already know what older adults are going to say—listen first, then act.

That philosophy reflects so much of what I believe community leadership should be.

Marjorie’s legacy was not only about serving seniors. It was about listening to people, giving them a voice, removing barriers, bringing resources into communities, and creating meaningful change so people could live with dignity and independence.

Those values are deeply connected to the work I have been committed to at the DaVinci Center for Community Progress — strengthening programs, expanding services, building meaningful partnerships, advocating for resources, and making sure the people we serve feel seen, respected, and supported.

Over the past few years, we have worked hard to transform DaVinci and position the organization for a stronger future. With new investments, expanded opportunities, and growing recognition of our work, that transformation is becoming a reality.

To receive an award bearing Marjorie Waters’ name is both an honor and a reminder of the responsibility we have to continue listening, advocating, removing barriers, and creating opportunities for people whose voices are too often unheard.

I am truly grateful for this recognition and proud to continue this work alongside our staff, Board of Directors, partners, seniors, and community. ❤️

A heartfelt thank you to Senator Jack Reed for securing $440,000 in federal funding for the DaVinci Center.

Having Senator Reed, Congressman Gabe Amo, and Mayor Brett Smiley with us today meant so much to our community. One of our seniors shared that seeing all three leaders at the DaVinci Center made them feel truly seen and remembered.

We are deeply grateful for the support, the investment, and the recognition of our North End community.

Joined Mayor Brett Smiley & Congressman Gabe Amo to prepare meals & celebrate new federal investments to help the DaVinci Center expand its community services & food pantry offerings.

With this $440K earmark, DaVinci will be able to strengthen assistance for Rhode Islanders in need.
