Rhode Island is building a new model for getting breakthrough science to the bedside

Cognito Therapeutics and the Rhode Island Life Science hub are launching the Rhode Island Brain Health Collaboratory to advance innovation in Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological conditions.

This statewide initiative is the first of its kind and will allow Rhode Island to showcase its ability to move quickly in medical innovation.

Cognito Therapeutics, through the Collaboratory, will work alongside Rhode Island health systems, researchers and community stakeholders to evaluate and deploy Spectris®, its investigational technology platform for Alzheimer’s disease. With partners like Brown University Health and Care New England, they’ll generate clinical and real-world insights through research and collaboration with patients and caregivers.

Together, we’re working to establish Rhode Island as a national model for coordinated brain health innovation, and where next generation therapies are accessible to those who need them the most.

To us, the story of cancer and oncology innovation in Rhode Island can’t be told loudly enough, because once you start exploring it, it’s extraordinary.

As we recognize the patients, families, researchers and clinicians affected by cancer, Rhode Island is bringing together the science, technology, talent and partnerships needed to advance new approaches to detection, treatment and care.

This week, Rhode Island will host two important conversations:

On October 2nd, the 13th Annual American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) Rhode Island Research Breakfast will convene leaders from across Rhode Island to discuss the future of cancer research and the importance of sustaining the funding that makes scientific progress possible.

On October 2nd & 3rd the WIN Symposium 2026: Precision Oncology – Innovation and Equity Across the Globe will bring researchers, clinicians and innovators from around the world to Providence to explore advances in genomics, immunotherapy, radiation oncology, AI and precision medicine.

In our short time working across the state, we’ve seen important work happening throughout Rhode Island’s cancer innovation ecosystem, from classrooms and university labs to emerging companies and patient care. We’ll be sharing their stories as often as we can.

Stay in the conversation, by signing up for our newsletter as we highlight the people and organizations driving cancer research and innovation across the Ocean State.

Applications are now open for the Ocean State Labs Academic & Industry Partnership Program.

The Rhode Island Life Science Hub, in partnership with Ocean State Labs, powered by Portal Innovations, is supporting collaborations between Rhode Island academic researchers and established life science companies working to advance translational science.

The program will provide funding to help offset the cost of laboratory space, while supporting technology development, commercialization, and future growth in Rhode Island.

Selected partnerships can receive support for up to two laboratory benches and one hot desk at Ocean State Labs for 12 months, plus up to $50,000 for a student trainee stipend.

Eligible applicants must include a principal investigator from a Rhode Island higher education institution and an established life science industry partner with an existing sponsored research relationship.

Applications are now open. Learn more about eligibility and apply: https://www.rilifescience.com/academic-industry-partnership
