On Tuesday, September 29, from 4-5:30pm, in this plein air sketching workshop, students will learn how to interpret the complex world of foliage in their own art. Although seemingly random, the way that nature grows is balanced and harmonious. After meeting at the library, students will observe the beauty of Providence intently. With the guidance of RISD artist Daria, they will translate nature into their investigative sketches with watercolor and colored pencil.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Daria Derevianko is an illustrator and fine artist who primarily works in oil and watercolor. She is currently pursuing a BFA at Rhode Island School of Design. Her work is described as luminous, thoughtful, and quietly intense. As she explores the merging of memory and image, themes of comfort, nostalgia, solitude and human connection materialize. Inspired by art nouveau, Daria’s elegant use of line, delicate details and curving forms sweeps the viewer in, prodding them to look a little closer.
The Artists Loop is a program for artists and art enthusiasts.
