The Provincetown Police Department joins our brothers and sisters at the Haverhill Police Department in mourning the passing of Captain Andrea Fogarty following a courageous battle with cancer.

Captain Fogarty dedicated more than 27 years of her life to serving and protecting others. Her commitment to public service, leadership, and dedication to her fellow officers and community will leave a lasting legacy.

The loss of a fellow law enforcement officer is felt throughout our entire profession. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Captain Fogarty’s family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Haverhill Police Department during this difficult time.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Captain Andrea Fogarty after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

Captain Fogarty served this department and the citizens of Haverhill with distinction for 27+ years. Throughout a long and dedicated career, she was known for unwavering professionalism, strong leadership, and a genuine commitment to the men and women of this department and the community we serve. Even during her illness, Captain Fogarty remained positive, resilient, and deeply appreciative of the support shown to her, reflecting the strength of character that defined her both personally and professionally.

Her impact on this police department is lasting, and her absence will be deeply felt. During her three decades of service, she served in multiple assignments, including Community Policing, with multiple NEMLEC units, and for a large majority of her career in our Detective division. She will be greatly missed by all of us who had the privilege to work alongside her and call her a friend.

The members of the Haverhill Police Department extend our sincere condolences to Captain Fogarty’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this time.

Scenes from Patrol: Midnight Shift

While most of Provincetown is sleeping, our midnight shift officers are out patrolling the streets, keeping an eye on our neighborhoods, and making sure our community stays safe.

From the quiet streets downtown to the far ends of town, our officers are always on duty, ready to answer the call.

And let's just say… some of us really had a rough night! 👻

Community Advisory: Bicycle Seat Thefts in Provincetown

The Provincetown Police Department has seen a recent surge in reports of bicycle seat thefts across town. Because many bikes use quick-release clamps, thieves can easily target these items without specialized tools.

To protect your property, please review the safety tips below and share this post to help spread the word!

How to Secure Your Bike
• Upgrade Your Clamp: Swap out quick-release seat post clamps for standard hex-bolt collars or specialized anti-theft locking skewers (like Pinhead or Pitlock systems).
• Secure to the Frame: If you keep a quick-release lever, loop a secondary security cable or small chain through the seat rails and secure it directly to your bike frame.
• Take It With You: If secondary locking isn't possible and you're leaving your bike unattended for a while, take the seat post assembly indoors with you.
• Park Smart: Lock your bicycle to fixed racks in well-lit, high-traffic areas, ideally within view of security cameras.
• Document Your Bike: Snap a few photos of your bicycle, record any distinct markings, and note the serial number located on the underside of the frame.

See Something, Say Something

If your seat or accessories have been stolen, or if you notice anyone suspiciously tampering with parked bikes, please contact the Provincetown Police Department right away:
• Non-Emergency Dispatch: 508-487-1212
• Online Reporting: Frontline PSS Provincetown
