Mapleton Fire Rescue – Incident Press Release

Shortly after 3:30 PM this afternoon, Mapleton Fire Rescue units were dispatched to a three story mixed use commercial building for a reported fire / explosion inside a dental office located in Mapleton.

Upon arrival, crews located a fire in a mechanical room within the dental office and confirmed that a fire sprinkler had activated. The sprinkler system functioned as designed and helped limit fire spread. The fire was contained to the room of origin.

No patients or staff were injured.

The dental office sustained moderate damage and will remain closed. Attached businesses experienced minor smoke damage. Four residential units located above the business were not involved. All occupants have been allowed to re enter their spaces with the exception of the dental office.

Damage is currently estimated at approximately $50,000.

The cause of the explosion and fire remains under investigation by the Utah County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Mapleton Fire Rescue was assisted by Springville Fire Rescue, Spanish Fork Fire and EMS, Provo Fire Rescue, and the Mapleton Police Department.

Debris burning is a common springtime task, but it’s crucial to do it right. Here’s a quick checklist for safe burning:
1. Choose the right day – Calm, clear, and low-wind days are best.
2. Prepare your space – Clear away any nearby flammable objects.
3. Keep it small and manageable – Only burn small amounts at a time.
4. Stay nearby – Always keep a hose or shovel ready.
5. Extinguish properly – Make sure the fire is completely out before leaving.
Safety is key – let’s prevent wildfires together! 🌳🔥
