Here is a recording of a program for the 50th Anniversary of the Provo Temple. Tells something about the history and architecture of the temple, as well as some people's personal experiences with the temple.

This image came from a card, possibly used as a Christmas card. The photo was taken in the early 1970s when the temple was new, as is evidenced by the size of the trees. It shows very clearly the beauty of the gold and white color scheme with a blue sky, snow-covered mountains, and late afternoon light.

I just can't help thinking of the lotus blossom.

With the Provo Temple the details on the building really make the difference. I guess you would call these details "dentils" that form a trim around the top of the main floor of the building.

Taken this evening. A cloudy and rainy evening just as the lights had come on lighting the Temple for the evening. It kind of looks like it is firing up to blast off.

This snow sculpture appeared on 9th East over the weekend. I love that it is so immediately recognizable. I think it also shows the affection people feel for the Provo Temple.

I found this program with a drawing of the Temple left behind in a classroom. It shows all the key features of the building, including the panels on the drum, the flare out on the top of the first floor, and the arched windows. It makes me think it must have been drawn from a photo, rather than from memory, but I think it is a great representation.

A few weeks ago I took an evening walk up around the Temple and I was reminded how great it is to see the Temple at dusk, just after the sun goes behind the mountains. That's is when all the gold windows light up and and shine their very best. It kind of makes me miss the gold spire.

I like this one because it capture an image of the temple that is more suggestive than literal. It shows the roundness of the building and captures its space-age quality.

This one captures the essence of the building, so that it is immediately recognizable. Many of the children did not focus on the bottom floor of the temple, instead giving attention to the more distinctive drum and spire.

This drawing seems to get all the primary elements, including the three tiers of the building, the spire with the Moroni statue, the panels on the drum, and the arched windows. I think the viewing angle of drawing gives a sense of perspective and captures the strong presence of the building.
