🚪 Tonight’s reminder: close bedroom doors before going to sleep.

A closed door can slow the spread of smoke and heat during a fire. Pair that habit with working smoke alarms and a practiced escape plan.

Walk through the plan with your kids tonight, including who will help younger children.

Thanks for following along with Pulaski Tri-County Fire Department. Keep practicing these habits all year!

🔌 That worn-out cord isn’t worth keeping.

Check your cords and chargers today. Replace damaged ones, avoid overloaded outlets, and don’t run cords under rugs. Major appliances belong directly in wall outlets.

Remind your kids to leave outlets alone and tell an adult about damaged wires or sparks. Have a qualified electrician check hot or scorched outlets.

Had a great time helping out the Pulaski 8th graders with their egg drop again this year!!

Always a fun event watching the creative minds of our area kids as they try to keep their eggs safe for the 80 foot drop from Ladder 1111!

🍳 Stepping away from the stove? Turn the burner off first.

Keep towels and other things that can burn away from the stovetop, and turn pot handles toward the back.

Show your kids the 3-foot “kid-free zone” around the stove.

Never put water on a grease fire or carry a burning pan. If you can’t safely cover a small pan fire with a lid, get outside and call 911.

🏠 Ask your kids tonight: “If there was a fire, where would we meet outside?”

Pick a spot a safe distance from the house, find two ways out of each room where possible, and practice together. Plan who will help little ones or anyone needing assistance.

Remind everyone: don’t stop for belongings, and never go back inside. Get out, stay out and call 911.

🚨 When did you last test your smoke alarms?

Press the test buttons today. You need alarms in every bedroom, outside sleeping areas and on every level—including the basement. Test monthly and replace alarms at 10 years old.

Let your kids hear the sound during your test. Explain that it means get outside and go to your family’s meeting spot.

🔋 We’re sharing a quick fire safety tip each day this week!

Today: battery safety. Phones and tablets aren’t the only things to watch—cordless drills, saws, lawn equipment and other rechargeable tools need safe charging habits, too.

Use the charger approved for your battery, charge away from anything that can burn, and avoid charging while you’re asleep or away from home.

Show your kids a safe spot to charge their devices. If any battery gets unusually hot, swells, leaks or smells strange, stop using it.

If a battery starts smoking or catches fire, don’t pick it up. Get everyone outside and call 911.

A few weeks ago, members of the Pulaski Tri-County Fire Department placed these red flags at the gravesites of our past department members.

The flags are placed each year during the time between September 11th and Fire Prevention Week in October as a way to remember and honor the firefighters who served our department and community before us.

The words on the flag say it best: “Loyal to Our Duty.”

These flags will remain in place through Fire Prevention Week as a visible reminder that while their time of service may have ended, their dedication, contributions, and place in our department’s history are not forgotten.

To those who came before us — thank you for your service. We remember and honor you. 🚒

A huge thank-you to the generous organizations and individuals who supported the Pulaski Tri-County Fire Department during yesterday’s Open House!

Pulaski American Legion Post 337 presented our department with a generous $500 donation. We sincerely appreciate their continued commitment to our department and the community we serve.

We would also like to thank the Wisconsin Freemasons for donating two Fire Suppression Tools, as well as Chris “Skipper” Young for personally donating a third.

These throwable devices can be deployed into an enclosed structure to quickly release a fire-suppressing aerosol. The aerosol interrupts the chemical reaction that allows fire to continue burning, helping knock down the flames, reduce heat and slow the fire’s growth. This can improve conditions for anyone trapped inside and give responding firefighters valuable time as crews prepare to make entry and fully extinguish the fire.

We are incredibly grateful for these donations and for the support shown to our department. Each contribution helps us improve our capabilities and better protect the communities we proudly serve.

Thank you, Pulaski American Legion Post 337, the Wisconsin Freemasons and Chris “Skipper” Young!
