As part of a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training class, a disaster simulation exercise will be conducted at approximately 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM on Monday, June 1st in the area of Beach Channel Drive and Beach 63rd Street in Queens. Brooklyn Surf Club 05/29/2026

A local surfing school has found a gnarly way to give back to the community.
The Brooklyn Surf Club is offering free surf classes to children ages 6 to 15 who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to surf.
Each lesson will last about two hours, depending on wave and ocean conditions, which can change daily. Classes will run on Sundays at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., beginning June 28.
Dates for the 2026 season:
• Sunday, June 28
• Sunday, July 12
• Sunday, July 26
• Sunday, Aug. 2
• Sunday, Aug. 9
• Sunday, Aug. 16
• Sunday, Sept. 13
• Sunday, Sept. 20
• Sunday, Sept. 27
Each free surf lesson includes:
• Warm-up and water safety
• Surf techniques and practice on land
• In-water practice and guidance
• Feedback and improvement
