Steven T. Beard is running for Queens Civil Court Judge in Municipal Court District 6, containing the beautiful neighborhoods of College Point, Flushing, Auburndale, Murray Hill, Bayside, Whitestone, Douglaston, Little Neck, Glen Oaks, Oakland Gardens, Fresh Meadows, and Kew Gardens Hills. Steven graduated from CUNY School of Law in 2012, then located at 65-21 Main Street, right here in Municipal Court District 6. Since 2013, Steven has been a Civil Courtroom Litigator at a small law office on Francis Lewis Boulevard and 25th Avenue, right here in the district, specializing with small and family-owned businesses, property owners, tenants, and workers. Steven has litigated matters in NYC Civil Court, New York State Supreme Court, the Appellate Division, the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the United States Bankruptcy Court, and other judicial and administrative forums in the City of New York and surrounding counties. Having represented a wide plethora of clients, Steven knows to be sensitive to all litigants who may appear before the Court. Steven has the experience and knowledge in navigating civil procedure, particularly the CPLR, RPAPL, NYC Civil Court Act, and the Uniform Rules, and has prosecuted and defended a variety of civil matters, including landlord-tenant proceedings, employment actions (ie: wage and hour, discrimination), breach of contract, real estate disputes, and business litigation. Steven will be independent-minded and a thoughtful additional to the bench, being sensitive to all litigants. We ask for your support of Steven's campaign for Queens Civil Court Judge in the Democratic Primary on June 27, 2023. There is also early voting between June 17, 2023 through June 25, 2023.
The NYC Civil Court has jurisdiction over monetary claims up to $50,000.00, Landlord-Tenant matters, including evictions, name change matters, other ancillary matters, and has a small claims part that handles cases up to $10,000.00 usually for parties appearing without counsel.
