Advocacy Network for Children Our 3 programs are Court Appointed Special Advocates, Child Advocacy Centers & prevention program. CASA volunteers come form all walks of life.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are trained community volunteers appointed by a judge to speak up for abused or neglected children in court. CASA volunteers work alongside attorneys and social workers from case inception to its completion. They have a variety of professional, educational and ethnic backgrounds. No special experience is required. Volunteers are selected on the basis of their objectivity, competence and commitment. Once accepted, volunteers are trained in courtroom procedure, the social service and juvenile court systems, and the special needs of children who have been abused or neglected. It takes a commitment of 10-12 hours a month to be a CASA volunteer. Although it is challenging, it is very rewarding. The Children’s Advocacy Centers (CAC) are a new way of serving child victims of sexual abuse or serious physical abuse through a comprehensive approach to services for victims and their families. The Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) provides a safe, neutral, child-friendly environment where child victims of non-offending families meet with members of a multidisciplinary team of professionals for the purpose of investigation. The Children’s Advocacy Center staff provides advocacy services and help bridge the gap between social services, law enforcement, and the court system.

🌿 Tip Tuesday 🌿
Online Safety Starts with Awareness! 📱

Children and teens are spending more time online than ever before, but not everyone they interact with has good intentions.

Online predators can use social media, gaming platforms, and messaging apps to gain a child’s trust, often without parents or caregivers realizing it.

🚩 Would you recognize the warning signs?

Online grooming doesn’t always start with an obvious threat. It can begin with friendly conversations, compliments, gifts, or someone simply showing interest in a child’s life.

💙 Parents and caregivers play an important role in prevention! Keep communication open, stay involved in your child’s digital world, and remind them they can always come to you without fear of getting in trouble.

✨ The more we know, the better we can protect.

Take a moment to review the warning signs in today’s Tip Tuesday graphic and start a conversation with the children in your life.

🇺🇸 Columbus Day

As we recognize this holiday, we are reminded of the importance of community, compassion, and working together to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and valued. At Advocacy Network for Children, our commitment to advocating for children, strengthening families, and building brighter futures remains at the heart of everything we do.

May today serve as a reminder that even small acts of kindness, understanding, and compassion can create lasting change in our communities.

Did you know?
Not all screen time is the same. Educational activities, creative projects, and video chats with loved ones can support learning and connection, while excessive passive scrolling or entertainment may have different effects.

Helping children balance technology with sleep, physical activity, face-to-face interactions, and play supports healthy development.

Lexi and Emily spent the morning representing our CASA program at the Senior Adult Health Fair at the Kroc Center! It was a great opportunity to connect with members of our community, share information about CASA, and spread the word about the difference a CASA volunteer can make in the life of a child.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit with us and learn more about CASA.
