🚨PSA from our friends at QPD

🚨Quincy Police Department PSA for Parents:

Over the past several weeks, we’ve received numerous complaints about the erratic operation of e-bikes and ATVs in the Houghs Neck and Germantown neighborhoods, including on the d**e (an emergency access road—not a trail or riding area).

These vehicles have grown in popularity, but operating them unsafely can lead to serious injury or worse. We are asking parents and guardians to take a few minutes this weekend to talk with your kids about safe operation:

⚠️ Always wear a properly fitted helmet.
⚠️ Use only age-appropriate vehicles (youth models for younger riders; no adult-sized ATVs for kids under 16).
⚠️ Follow all traffic laws—ride predictably, stay in your lane, and never swerve into traffic.
⚠️ Be visible to drivers (bright clothing, lights, and reflectors).
⚠️ Avoid distractions—no earbuds or phone use while riding.
⚠️ No passengers on single-rider ATVs or e-bikes not designed for them.
⚠️ Supervise younger riders and set clear rules before they head out.

A few minutes of conversation and supervision can prevent a lifetime of regret. Let’s work together to keep our kids and our neighborhoods safe.

Thank you for your help,
Quincy Police Department

💡All Clear as of 9pm and power is restored!

⭐️630pm update: Outage is due to downed power lines in the vicinity of Willard St/Wesson Ave and the road will be closed for about 2 hours

🪫TPAL is aware of a large power outage effecting residents and businesses in West Quincy. No, we do not know the cause.

🔌Currently, NGRID estimates that power will be restored by 730pm, hopefully sooner 🤞

🚦Please remember a dark traffic signal is to be treated as a four way stop. Proceed through with caution.

Please see message below regarding utility work on Southern Artery

Please Be Aware: Southern Artery Utility Work

National Grid Gas has informed the City that the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU) has mandated inspections of public utilities at several locations on Southern Artery, between Greenleaf St and 291 Southern Artery.

The required inspections involve limited excavation of roadway pavement placed in 2025. While the City understands the frustration of disturbing a recently paved section of roadway, this work is necessary to comply with strict safety regulations established by the DPU.

The City is requiring curb-to-curb roadway restoration of all disturbed areas as part of National Grid's permit.

Inspections are expected to take 2-3 weeks to complete. Following the inspections, the pavement will be temporarily repaired until National Grid completes permanent roadway restoration in the spring.

We appreciate the public's patience and understanding as this critical utility work is completed.
