WEATHER ADVISORY: Wet and Windy Weekend Ahead
The City of Quitman is monitoring Tropical Storm Isaias in the Gulf. The storm is expected to strengthen and reach the northern Gulf Coast on Friday. As of this posting, Quitman is not under a tropical watch or warning.

What to expect in Quitman

Friday: Showers developing, likely by afternoon. Gusts up to 25 mph.
Friday night: Rain and possible thunderstorms. Gusts up to 30 mph.

Saturday: Rain throughout the day, with possible thunderstorms. Our wettest day.

The ground is already wet from recent rain, so gusty winds may bring down limbs and cause scattered power outages.

A few simple steps:
Secure trash carts and loose outdoor items by Friday morning.

Charge phones and check flashlights.

Stay away from downed power lines and report them right away.

The water main has been repaired. Residents are advised to run their water for a few minutes to clear any air from the lines and flush out any sediment or debris that may have entered the system. There are other water leaks within the city that have suddenly occureed. Crews will address these leaks this week

09/23/2026

There is a significant water main break that crews are actively repairing, and due to the extent of this repair, it has become necessary to temporarily interrupt water service in affected portions of the city for the safety of the crews. We hope to complete the repair within two hours.
