Today, Rahway joins communities across Union County in mourning the passing of Union County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi.
Joanne dedicated decades of her life to public service, serving with professionalism, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the people of Union County. She understood that public office is about more than holding a title—it is about serving others, strengthening our democratic institutions, and leaving your community better than you found it. She did exactly that.
Throughout her distinguished career, Joanne earned the respect and admiration of colleagues on both sides of the aisle through her leadership, kindness, and steadfast dedication to the residents she served. Her impact on Union County will be felt for generations, and her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched.
On behalf of the City of Rahway, I extend my deepest condolences to Joanne’s family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working with her.
May she rest in peace, and may we continue to honor her legacy by embracing the values of public service, civic engagement, and compassion that she exemplified every day.
