❗Election Fact: Writing on a ballot does NOT make it invalid! ❗

You may have heard a rumor that an Early Voting worker writing on your ballot makes your vote invalid. That is NOT true!

The reality is: Early Voting workers are required by law to write certain information on a voter’s ballot. In Gaston County, this includes: the voter’s application number, the voter’s assigned precinct number, and the initials of the Early Voting location: Cherryville, Dallas, Gastonia, or Mount Holly.

This process is different on Election Day when election officials do not write any information at the top of a ballot because the voter is at their assigned precinct.

Remember: An Early Voting worker writing the required information on your ballot does NOT invalidate your vote! Help stop the spread of false information. Share this post so others can learn the facts.
