Wake LRC provides in-reach services at five correctional facilities across North Carolina, helping individuals prepare for a successful return to the community.

During our visits, we provide reentry education, transition planning, and information about the resources available to individuals returning to Wake County. Our goal is to ensure a smooth transition, continuity of care, and a strong connection to services before and after release.

Because reentry is a journey—and it truly takes a village. 💙🤝

🔨 Exploring new pathways to careers in the skilled trades!

We recently met with Chris Sullivan at Everblue to discuss a potential partnership that could bring hands-on workforce training opportunities to individuals returning to the community.

Together, we're exploring the possibility of offering industry-recognized training in weatherization, energy efficiency, insulation, and other construction-related skills—preparing participants for careers in a growing field with local employment opportunities.

While conversations are still underway, we're encouraged by the possibilities and excited about what this collaboration could mean for our participants and community.

🎉 Join us in celebrating 10 incredible years of Our Children's Place of Coastal Horizons Center ! 💙

For the past decade, Our Children's Place has been a powerful advocate for one of the most often overlooked populations—the children of incarcerated parents. Through education, advocacy, family-centered events, and meaningful programming, they have worked tirelessly to ensure these children are seen, heard, and considered throughout the incarceration and reentry journey.

Their work also helps parents maintain meaningful connections with their children, strengthening families and creating hope even during difficult circumstances.

A very special congratulations to Melissa Radcliff for your vision, leadership, and unwavering commitment to children and families. Thank you for the countless lives you've impacted over the last 10 years. You are truly an inspiration, and we look forward to seeing the continued difference Our Children's Place will make for years to come. 💙👏

Do you know about the Shirley J. Sheares Men's Empowerment Center ?

For years, this center has been a pillar in our community, serving men experiencing homelessness through day services, emergency shelter, and long-term housing. Now, it's entering an exciting new chapter as it transforms into a Men's Empowerment Center—expanding its focus on equipping men with the tools, resources, life skills, and support needed to achieve long-term stability and self-sufficiency.

We were able to tour this space and were inspired by the vision, the environment, and the team's commitment to creating lasting change. We are is excited to partner with the Shirley J. Sheares Men's Empowerment Center, and we look forward to supporting the great work happening there.

👑 Sometimes we're unknowingly graced with royalty.

When Mr. Ade came to Wake LRC, he had one goal in mind: to rebuild his life and earn his CDL. Through hard work, determination, and perseverance, he accomplished exactly that—and in just a matter of months, he not only earned his CDL but also secured employment in the trucking industry! 🚛🎉

Along the way, we learned something special: Mr. Ade is a prince in his home country. While we were honored to learn about his cultural heritage, what stood out most was his humility, resilience, and unwavering commitment to creating a better future.

His journey is a powerful reminder that every person who walks through our doors has a unique story, incredible strengths, and limitless potential.

Last week, we had the pleasure of attending Elwyn's Open House, where we toured their Drop-In Center and learned more about the incredible services they provide to our community. 💙

Elwyn offers a safe, supportive space for adults living with mental health challenges, including behavioral health services, peer support, wellness activities, creative arts, daily living skill development, and opportunities to build meaningful connections. 🎉 We had a good time representing Wake Local Reentry Council as a vendor during Stepup Ministry Empower 48 Life Skills Program!

A special thank you to StepUp Ministry for the invitation and for creating opportunities that equip participants with practical life skills, valuable resources, and meaningful community connections.

In addition to Wake LRC services, we had the opportunity to share information about:

💼 NCWorks Career Center – Free career coaching, job search assistance, resume support, training opportunities, and more.

🌟 NextGen Program – Helping eligible young adults access education, career exploration, paid work experiences, and career pathways.

Also a special shoutout to my colleague Drew for joining in on the fun and helping engage participants throughout the day! We even had a little fun showing off our new Wake LRC water bottles. 😊
