“We are pleased with yesterday's decision by the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina denying the request for a preliminary injunction and allowing the State Board’s absentee voting procedures, which are consistent with statute, to remain in place.
North Carolina voters can be assured that this ruling does not change how they cast their ballots or the instructions they have already received. We simply remind absentee voters to carefully follow the instructions provided with their ballots, including properly sealing the ballot envelope before returning it.
North Carolina offers ample opportunities to vote, whether absentee, during early voting, or on Election Day. Our message is simple: We want every eligible voter to participate, and we want every vote to count, but voters must follow the rules established to protect the integrity of our elections.”
