It's National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

The U.S. Department of Labor's “Celebrating Value and Talent” video showcases the important ways people with disabilities contribute to America’s workforce and economy. Accessibility Day at the N.C. State Fair is coming on October 18!

Sensory Day, presented by Bandwidth Inc., is taking place at the 2026 N.C. State Fair this year on Sunday, Oct. 18th! 💙🎉

Plan to join us for on-the-spot competitions, fun activities in the Bandwidth Chillout Zone, and more! All vendors and booths will operate without music from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., as well as rides and games that begin at 10 a.m. Music stages will play acoustic sets only with light amplification and the public address system will only be used for lost visitor announcements.

It's National Disability Employment Awareness Month and this year's theme is Celebrating Value and Talent.

The NC ABLE Program recognizes the skills and contributions individuals with disabilities add to our workplaces, communities and the economy.

This yearly event began in 1945 as a weeklong national observance of the contributions of people with physical disabilities. In 1988, Congress designated the commemoration as NDEAM, which then evolved to acknowledge the importance of increasing employment opportunities for people with disabilities, including those with mental health conditions and other nonobvious disabilities.
