Governor Josh Stein has officially proclaimed September 21–25, 2026, as Falls Prevention Awareness Week in North Carolina.
Falls are NOT a normal part of aging and most falls can be prevented.

Help us celebrate Coalition on Aging member, NC Adult Day Services Association during National Adult Day Services week.

September 20-26, 2026, is National Adult Day Services Week, established by former President Ronald Regan in 1983 as the third full week of September. The NC Adult Day Services Association celebrates the care, connection and community in adult day services by presenting its inaugural Community Partner Award to Alvarez Landscaping. This generous small business with a huge heart for the community has repeatedly anticipated the needs of the adult day center, going above and beyond what would be expected. When outdoor spaces were overgrown, they spent an entire day clearing and restoring the grounds at no cost. During a winter storm an unplowed parking lot would have forced temporary closing of the center and disrupted routines of many families who rely on the adult day center, Alvarez Landscaping showed up! Jose' Alvarez and his team, a longstanding and generous supporter of Well-Spring Solutions (formerly Adult Center for Enrichment) and their annual fundraiser, were nominated by Solutions by Kintura: Memory Care Services Caregiver Education & Support in Greensboro, NC. Congratulations, and thank you for making a difference in adult day services in North Carolina!

Congratulations to Coalition member North Carolina Senior Games, Inc. on the celebration of the 42nd year of State Finals. The Celebration of the Games, featuring the Cheerleader Showcase, was held on September 17 at the Cary Arts Center and featured cheerleading groups from throughout North Carolina and the ceremonial presentation of the torch.
