⚠️📱 Enjoying Fall Fun Without Online Dangers: Is your child equipped for online safety?

As Halloween approaches, your child will meet new faces and friends and make countless memories. However, it's essential to remember that not everyone online is who they claim to be.

🎃 Discuss the individuals they are interacting with, both online and offline.
🎃 Remind them never to share photos or send images to anyone they aren’t familiar with.
🎃 Teach them that any threats or requests for money or images should be reported to you immediately.
🎃 Disable location sharing before entering crowded areas.
🎃 Set a designated check-in time and meeting place.

With the rise of online grooming, kids can become targets before parents even realize it’s happening. Keep communication lines open. Your child should always feel secure discussing anything with you.

Have this conversation before the festivities begin. Stay vigilant and stay safe! Looking for more safety tips? Visit our website, linked in the comments below!

Tiny Shoes. Big Reminder. Every Child Matters - As families enjoy the NC State Fair, our Safety City display shares a powerful reminder of the dangers of leaving children in hot cars. Each tiny pair of shoes represents a child who lost their life after being left in a hot vehicle. Behind every pair is a precious life and a family forever changed.

Even when temperatures start to dip, cars can heat up quickly! A cooler fall day does not mean a vehicle is safe for a child. Temperatures inside a car can rise rapidly, even when it doesn't feel that hot outside.

🚗 **Help prevent a hot car tragedy:**
❤️ Never leave a child alone in a vehicle, even for a minute.
❤️ Always check the back seat before walking away.
❤️ Keep vehicles locked when parked so children cannot climb inside.
❤️ If you see a child alone in a vehicle, call 911 immediately.

These tiny shoes remind us that hot car tragedies can happen to any family, but every one of us can help prevent them.

If you're visiting the NC State Fair this week, stop by Safety City behind the Kerr Scott Building to see our display and meet the team to learn more about keeping your family safe. Let's look out for one another and help keep every child safe.

🎡 🎃 Letting your child travel with you? Always Take a Photo!

Crowds at the State Fair move fast, and Halloween can bring up all sorts of busy surprises. Your child can wander off in seconds if you aren't careful. If you find yourself in this risky situation and lose your child, a clear & current photo on your phone is one of the fastest ways to help officials find them.

This October, we're highlighting the importance of child safety as they venture outside. Remember to:
✔️ Take a photo of your child in today’s outfit
✔️ Keep it on your phone, not on public social media
✔️ Determine a meeting spot with your child, in case you get separated
✔️ Teach them to find a uniformed official for help
✔️ Always keep little ones within arm’s reach

Posting photos of your kids online, especially with school uniforms, locations, or daily routines, can give strangers more information than you intend. Keep the photo for emergencies, but keep your child’s details private from the public eye.

Safe Rides, Everyday Heroes! 🚍✨ Is your child ready for school bus safety?

Remember, drivers must always stop for school buses with flashing red lights and extended stop arms! 🚦 Passing a stopped school bus puts children in serious danger.

This National School Bus Safety Week (October 19–23, 2026) reminds us of the importance of keeping our kids safe on their way to and from school.

While it’s up to adults to obey the traffic rules, parents and teachers can help by reminding children to:

🚏 Stay alert at bus stops
🚌 Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop
🚶 Always cross in front of the bus where the driver can see them

Together, we can make sure every child arrives safely! To learn more about this year's theme and find helpful resources, check out the NAPT website linked in the comments below!

National Teen Driver Safety Week is a reminder that safe driving habits start from day one!💙

Teen drivers face higher crash risks due to inexperience and distractions. It’s crucial for parents and caregivers to take an active role in promoting safe driving practices by setting clear expectations and modeling safe behavior behind the wheel.

👉 Talk with your teen about:

✔️ Buckling up every trip: Remind them that seatbelts save lives and should be worn at all times, no matter how short the journey may be.

✔️ Avoiding distractions like phones: Encourage them to put their phones away while driving to focus on the road and avoid unnecessary risks.

✔️ Following speed limits: Teach them the importance of adhering to speed limits, which are set to ensure safety for all road users.

✔️ Never driving impaired or fatigued: Stress that it's important to stay sober and well-rested before getting behind the wheel to make responsible decisions.

Safe habits built today can protect lives for years to come. Let’s work together to create a culture of safety for our teen drivers! ✨

DID YOU KNOW? Children's costumes are often made out of polyester, a HIGHLY FLAMMABLE plastic-based material that can cause third-degree burns when melted against skin.
Halloween may be a fun and exciting time, but it’s always important to keep fire safety in mind!

Costumes, decorations, and candles can increase fire risks. If you're looking to prioritize your child's visibility, here are 4 simple tips to use:

✔️ Keep costumes away from open flames
✔️ Use battery-operated candles instead of real candles
✔️ Keep decorations away from heat sources
✔️ Never leave candles unattended

Simple precautions can help ensure a safe and enjoyable Halloween for everyone!
