With the temporary burn ban lift in Cibola County we are now issuing burn permits in Candy Kitchen.

Please email [email protected] to request a permit. We need at least 24 hours notice and will get back to you in the order of request received.

As we are a volunteer-only department we are not at the fire station to check or receive voicemails often but you can also call and leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience!

🔥 Burn Ban Update 🔥

We know many of you have been patiently waiting for the burn ban to be lifted. Cibola County has temporarily lifted the County Wide Ban but we have remained under a burn ban in Candy Kitchen as we were waiting for more moisture. We will likely be lifting the ban this weekend and will start issuing permits on a limited basis once we do.

When that process begins you can email [email protected] to request a permit. You can also call the station at 505-775-3670 and leave a voicemail. We are not down there everyday to check the phones so emailing is the best way to get ahold of us. We do require at least 24 hours notice before we are able to issue permits so we can get the proper paperwork completed.

Thank you all for your patience and respecting the bans to keep our community safe.

Another great weekend assisting at the Ramah Navajo Fair and Rodeo alongside the wonderful Pinehill EMS Team

Candy Kitchen VFD provided personnel for EMS response for rodeo events as well as water for dust mitigation in the arena throughout the weekend. Always a pleasure supporting our neighbors in Pinehill.

Big thanks to Fence Lake Volunteer Fire Department for sending personnel as well!

We appreciate every member of our team. It takes a village of volunteers to help keep our community safe alongside the other wonderful volunteer departments in our County. 🚒❤️

Today is Volunteer Firefighters Recognition Day, and we're honoring the dedicated men and women who selflessly serve their communities.

Volunteer firefighters respond to emergencies at all hours, train year-round, and sacrifice time with their families to help others when they're needed most.

To every volunteer firefighter across the country: thank you for your courage, your commitment, and everything you do to keep your communities safe.

Tag a volunteer firefighter who deserves a shoutout. ❤️🚒

Exceptional Drought, the most severe drought category, has returned to New Mexico for the first time in nearly a year.

The last time any part of New Mexico was in Exceptional Drought was October 2025. Extreme Drought has also expanded across north-central New Mexico and south into Lincoln County.

Wondering why burn ban restrictions haven’t been lifted? These are the current drought conditions in New Mexico.

Majority of Cibola County is still classified as in extreme drought. We appreciate everyone respecting the burn bans and let’s hope we continue to get more of this monsoon moisture!
