Our Volunteers do not do this for recognition, but I feel the need to recognize this young lady. Halle is a dedicated volunteer in the Hardin County Fire Department. She has signed up as a reserve member for the Ramer Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department for when she is working in the area. Yesterday, she came out to invest time in our community showing up for the children at Ramer Elementry School. After this was over she made the 100+ mile journey to Columbia, TN to take her EMR national registry exam first thing this morning. We are so proud of our sister firefighter for successfully passing that examination!
Her dedication and professionalism is the standard other firefighters (paid and volunteer) should strive for. She not only shows up to fires, but she traines hard, and pushes herself to go further and reach new heights. Now she has earned her medical license. During her short career, thus far, she has made us proud of her for setting the example and being a role model for the younger generation and letting young girls see, by her example, that the only limitations you have on your life are the ones you allow to be there. As her part time chief, I can't wait to see the heights she goes in her career. I truly believe God has special plans for you.

Congratulations FF Halle Lineberger!

Some people say I am ridiculous and call me names and laugh at me and mock me. They tell me I am too tough for a volunteer department, but I say standards save lives! AS the chief I believe standards keep people trained and training keeps people from getting hurt! I love every one of our volunteers and I love this community. The culture we allow in our department I pray demonstrates that every day!

A lot of problems in the firehouse don’t start because nobody saw them.

They start because everybody saw them and nobody said anything.

The shortcut.

The bad attitude.

The missed training.

The person who never pulls their weight.

The standard that only applies when it’s convenient.

After a while, people stop seeing it as a problem.

It just becomes “how we do things here.”

That’s where leadership matters.

Not every problem needs discipline.

Not every issue needs a meeting.

But somebody has to be willing to say:

“No. That’s not who we are.”

Culture is built just as much by what we allow as what we teach.

As the fire chief for The City of Ramer I am very proud of our volunteer firefighters! Many departments are struggling with participation and we do too, but compared to some departments in the area we are blessed. I appreciate all of you that answer the call when the tones drop, but I am particularly grateful to the ones that go above and beyond and come together in the community at functions like fire safety day at Ramer Elementry School! For a small city strictly volunteer department to have 5 firefighters show up on a Monday, is truly a testimony of the atmosphere coming together in the Ramer Fire Department to build a culture!
In the past few months, as chief, I have watched our department flourish. That is a testimony to the brave and dedicated individuals that have stepped up as an unpaid volunteer and that support our wonderful community has put behind us. To that I say thank you for supporting the vision.
At this moment we are still accepting volunteers, no experience necessary. We are also still accepting donations of water and coffee pods and electrolyte packets. We appreciate these donations because they keep pur volunteers safe, hydrated, and happy. We have many needs and wants and we ask that you consider making a contribution to our department so we may continue to grow. You can contact City Hall during business hours for more information on making a tax deductible donation.
Special shout out to Asst Chief Ryan Tyler for always having our best interest at heart and helping to make this vision run, and to Baptist Ambulance for coming out today and always being there for our community! Also thank you to volunteer firefighters Halle Lineberger, Ryan Dillon, Ryan Vaughn, and Fred Frogue for making this happen.
Special thank you to our newest EMR and firefighter Kerri Walton who has come to us from Indiana bringing a ton of experience and dedication. She unfortunately was not able to be there today because she is in New Mexico attending a Fema training to serve our community in a whole new way! Ramer is a small City with a big heart. We need these changes to protect this beautiful place.
We have come a long way, and we still have plenty to do. We look forward to working diligently to serving our beloved city and surrounding areas. We are excited for the future.
Sincerely
Erich Buehring
Chief

Today we had a great day Ramer Elementary School with Baptist Ambulance. We got to talk to a bunch of really cool kids and let them play in our trucks and some even got to shoot a real fire hose!
It takes a village and we are so proud to be a small part of that village for our community youth!
Wr did our best not to include pictures of children for privacy reasons. If you are looking for a photo of your child please check with your children's teacher. I know some teachers took photos!

Just wanted to remind everyone that Burn Permits are Required starting October 15th to May 15th. They are free and are instant. You can get yours at www.BurnSafeTN.org if we are called to an outdoor fire during these dates and you do not have a current burn permit, we will need to put it out in the interest of public safety. If you are denied a permit, it simply means that current conditions are not safe. You will be able to get one when the conditions become safe again. This is not to make your life harder, it is to keep our beautiful community safe. Thank you for your cooperation!

Find out how to obtain a debris burning permit in Tennessee. Follow TN Wildland Fire guidelines to ensure safe and responsible burning practices.

Public Statement from the Chief:

I want to take a moment and clear the air about the small town gossip. I have heard all kinds of rumors, and honestly some made me laugh, but I feel the record needs to be set straight so that everyone is informed and we can move forward in a positive way.

1) I have heard the rumors that I am no longer chief, I have heard I have been fired, that I quit, and all kinds of stuff. I am here to tell you that I am proudly still the chief at the Ramer Fire Department. I have no immediate plans of leaving and as far as I know they do not have any immediate plans of getting rid of me.

2) I have heard the rumor that I have been collecting my paycheck and not showing up. I am strictly a volunteer. I do not collect a paycheck. In fact I do not even make purchases with the expectation of getting paid back. Official purchases are done through City Hall and whatever I buy for the department, such as lights for the tanker truck or the t-shirts for the department, I do so at my expense. The city gives me zero dollars for my personal fundssince I have become chief.

3) I have heard that I went crazy and lost my mind, that one made me laugh. I'm not going to comment as to why someone would start such a rumor, but that was creative and I am sure the truth will eventually come out.

4) I heard that the department is dead. Well we have 4 new members from last month alone, including my oldest son who is proud to serve next to his crazy dad, pictured below training on the hose at our last hose training day.

5) Our house has been less active lately. The reason is we do not have any fans or working air conditioners in our department. We would like to purchase a split system unit for the office area at least and possibly an industrial size fan for the bays, however, the grant we were supposed to receive to cover those costs has not come through. Therefore, we have avoided spending time at the station for comfort and safety reasons. We would love if someone would pray about possible donations to cover the cost of these 2 necessary items. The split unit system we are looking at is approximately $700 and the Fan we are looking for is one of the large fans that they carry at Tractor Supply, as large as possible so we can move the air around in the bay.

As we move forward into the fall and winter season and this heat breaks, we look forward to being back out in the community.

Last Night at approximately 9:17PM Ramer Fire and Rescue Responded to a structure fire on Cemetery Ln, in the City of Ramer. Upon arrival on Scene crews found a large garage fully involved. With the assistance of Eastview Fire Department and support from Guys, Michie, and Selmer Fire Departments, the fire was quickly brought under control and prevented from spreading to the yard and nearby trees and wood line. Despite the intense flames causerd by the garage contents, crews worked seamlessly and efficiently to get the structure completely extinguished. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Baptist Ambulance Service for their response to the scene to ensure the safety of all residents and fire personnel. Furthermore, we would like to thank Sierra Raymond for her generous donation of water and electrolyte packets approximately a week and a half ago. Her generous donation kept the fire fighters on scene hydrated and safe. That act of kindness literally saved lives. Anyone willing or wishing to donate more water to the department to assist in keeping us stocked and hydrated can do so by contacting Chief Erich Buehring or by messaging this page or contacting Ramer City Hall.

The cause and orgin of the fire is still under investigation. All personell cleared the scene and returned to service at approximately 11:20PM. This is a great reminder of why interdepartment training and relationships are important.

09/12/2026

This morning is our monthly training meeting. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sierra Raymond for her very generous donation of water and electrolytes for the department. This recent heat has truly been a battle to keep firefighters hydrated and here locally there have been 3 firefighters that have gone down, because of dehydration. Ms Sierra we are extremely grateful, your donation makes us stronger, thank you!

Today we remember all of our brothers and sisters that gave their lives on this day! On this day, 25 years later we still feel the effects of that tragic event. Yes even here in Ramer TN. Our very own Mark Jennings worked for the airlines and personally knew some of the flight crew members. Our Chief's cousin Dennis Tarimina was a firefighter for Station 1 in East Rutherford NJ. He was at his regular job in the south tower of the trade center. Some of his coworkers that survived said he was last seen assisting people on the stairway. That is the mark of a firefighter, we stand up and help when others run. The fire service today is not considered an essential service according to our government, but we are necessary and we are proud to do what we do!
Our department and its roster of 13 members gives honor to those who lost their lives on this day 25 years ago, and we give honor to their brave families that had to carry on without them. We at the Ramer Fire Department stand at the ready for the worst moments and pray you never need us.

Ramer fire department is moving on. Sometimes progress is accomplished in silence. We are still offering free smoke detectors and Carbon Monoxide detectors. We are still here in the community. We have officially repaired and put back in service our Station 34 Engine 1. This truck was down for quite some time and after many attempts to get it fixed. Finally we fixed it in house at a cost of $20. We have been hosting regular training sessions on the 2nd Saturday of each month and over the last 2 months we have welcomed 4 new members. As this heat breaks we are looking forward to being more present in the community. Thank you for all of the support.
Currently we are seeking donations of bottled water to help keep us hydrated on our upcoming trainings and calls.
