Home heating during the fall, winter, and spring presents significant fire risks if safety measures are not followed. Improper use of heating equipment is a leading cause of residential fires, often resulting from malfunctioning systems or flammable materials placed too close to heat sources.

Fireplace safety is essential to preventing home fires. Regularly clean chimneys and inspect for creosote buildup, and always use a sturdy screen to prevent sparks from escaping. Ensure combustibles are kept at least three feet away from the fireplace, and never leave a fire unattended.

Space heaters should be used with caution and positioned at least three feet away from curtains, furniture, and other flammable items. Always plug space heaters directly into a wall outlet and turn them off when leaving the room or going to sleep.

Following these precautions can significantly reduce fire risks while ensuring safe and efficient home heating. We want you to enjoy a safe and cozy remainder of the year, free from any unexpected incidents!
