Today marks the start of FIRE PREVENTION WEEK🔥

🔋⚡ October 4th–10th is Fire Prevention Week, and this year's theme is "Safe Charging “

The Randolph Fire Department needs your help to spread the word! From cell phones and laptops to e-bikes and power tools, lithium-ion batteries power our daily lives. But when they are charged incorrectly, they can cause fast-moving, dangerous fires.

Here are some smart tips for every time you plug in:

• Only use the original cord and power adapter that came with your device.
• Keep devices on hard, flat surfaces while charging—never on a bed, couch, or pillow where heat gets trapped.
• Unplug devices once they hit 100% to prevent overheating the battery.
• Store batteries at room temperature and out of direct, hot sunlight.

Let's work together to prevent lithium-ion battery fires in our community. Stay safe, and stay smart! For more info visit ➡️ www.fpw.org

This past week, the Randolph Fire Department conducted our annual mandatory hose testing!

🚒 💦 Fire hoses take a beating on the job—being dragged over glass, concrete, and debris, all while holding hundreds of pounds of water pressure. Per NFPA 1962 standards, we pressure-test every single foot of hose to its absolute limits in a controlled environment.

We do this to catch any tiny tears, worn gaskets, or weak couplings, to ensure our gear is 100% reliable when it matters most. It keeps our firefighters safe and protects our community during an emergency.

A huge thank you to the Didion Foundation for their incredibly generous donation! 🚒✨

With their support, the Randolph Fire Department was able to purchase two brand-new, updated gas detection meters. These new meters are replacing old equipment that was over 30 years old. This critical upgrade will keep both our firefighters and our community safer during natural gas leaks, carbon monoxide investigations, and mutual aid responses. We are so grateful for the Didion Foundation who helped invest in the safety of Randolph and our surrounding communities!
