💙💚 RECOGNIZING WHEN IT’S TIME TO ASK FOR HELP 💚💙
Young adulthood can bring major changes, new responsibilities, uncertainty, and pressure. When you’re struggling with your mental health, it can be tempting to convince yourself that you just need to “push through it.” But you don’t have to handle everything on your own.
Learning to recognize changes in your mental and emotional well-being is important. Persistent sadness, excessive worry, withdrawing from people or activities you enjoy, difficulty concentrating, changes in sleep or appetite, or feeling overwhelmed may be signs that it’s time to reach out for support.
❤️ Asking for help is a sign of strength.
Talk with someone you trust — a family member, friend, counselor, teacher, healthcare professional, or another supportive adult. Mental health resources and programs such as Mental Health First Aid can also help people learn how to recognize concerns, respond appropriately, and connect themselves or others with professional support.
At Mary’s Shelter, we want every young person to know that their mental health matters. You deserve to be heard, supported, and connected with the help you need.
💙 You don’t have to wait until things become overwhelming to reach out. You don’t have to face it alone.
