We are excited to welcome K9 Loki to the Tehama County Probation Department. K9 Loki is an 18-month-old Belgian Malinois partnered with his handler Deputy Probation Officer II Adam Zuccato.

Born in Holland, Loki made his way to the United States through Hope K9 in Norco, California. Known for his happy disposition and enthusiasm for work, Loki enjoys going for walks, playing ball, swimming, and most of all working.

Loki recently completed an eight-week Basic K9 Handler’s Course with Nine Mile K9 becoming certified through the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) in criminal apprehension and narcotics detection.

Working alongside Officer Zuccato, Loki will provide an additional resource for not only our agency, but all allied law enforcement agencies throughout Tehama County. As Loki and Officer Zuccato continue to strengthen their partnership, they look forward to working together to serve the residents of Tehama County. You will likely see K9 Loki at different events throughout the county so make sure to stop by and say hi.

They invested their own time, had the difficult conversations, and implemented the necessary steps to create lasting changes in the lives of their children. On 7/2/2026, at approximately 3:18pm, a youth escaped from the Tehama County Juvenile Detention Facility. Juvenile Detention staff immediately notified law enforcement and within minutes multiple agencies responded to assist Tehama County Probation Officers in the search. Within an hour the youth was located by deputies from the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office and returned to custody.

We would like to thank the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office, Red Bluff Police Department, Red Bluff Fire Department, California Highway Patrol, and the Tehama Major Crimes Unit for assisting with the search and apprehension of the youth.

The safety of our community, staff, and youth remains our highest priority. Our preliminary review indicates that established security protocols were followed, and we are conducting a comprehensive assessment of this incident, and our security measures, to determine whether additional enhancements need to be made.

The employees of the Tehama County Probation Department are commended for acting swiftly and immediately to ensure the safety and security of the community.
