Tehama County Genealogical & Historical Society The Tehama County Genealogical & Historical Society works hard to preserve and share Tehama County Visit us at TehamaCountyHistory.com

The TCGHS works hard to preserve and share Tehama County’s rich history before it fades away and is lost forever. Several Society members serve as volunteers at the Red Bluff branch of the Tehama County Library. They prepare research databases, catalog photographs and documents, assist the public with genealogical and historical research projects, and help answer inquiries to the Society. Additionally, the Society is active in finding and reprinting books about local history that are long out of print but still significant. None of this is possible without the enthusiastic support from members of the community who believe in the value of history. The TCGHS is a membership society relying solely on dues to support its mission. Join or renew today to support and promote TCGHS’s historical stewardship of Tehama County’s unique sense of place—past, present, and future.

We received a wonderful donation of a set of “specs”issued from the Thompson Clinic in Red Bluff possibly circa the 1940’s. These are so fragile and only 4 inches wide. The owner must have been of small stature !

The weather is so wonderful today - 75 degrees instead of 95 degrees (a 20 degree drop in one day). I thought I'd take a quick look back at a weather report from a few years ago. This one is from 10.10.1900 and was printed in the Daily Red Bluff News. It was harder to predict the weather back in the day. This report of 10.10.1900 is a report on the weather of the previous day.

Enjoy this lovely cool Fall day!

Much like the ball dropping in Times Square on New Year’s Eve, this is the dropping of a bag of olives at the Corning Olive Festival 2026. I love the energy and enthusiasm that goes into this fabulous event!
