Montgomery County (PA) firefighters have been busy in 2026.

Box alarms are dispatches typically related to structural occupancies such as houses, apartments, or businesses.

Working fires are confirmed fires that would require the full complement of resources on the original dispatch or requiring the response of additional resources to extinguish the fire.

The condition called flashover is when all combustibles in a room reach their ignition temperature and catch fire. Temperatures have been documented to reach in excess of 1800 degrees, and firefighters have only seconds to identify the flashover and escape to avoid serious injury or even death.

Two members attended a flashover survival training conducted through the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy using their mobile flashover training simulator.

The training provides the firefighters the opportunity to recognize the warning signs and how to survive the situation before they are caught in the flashover.
