Red Oak Fire Department Red Oak Fire Department provides Fire and EMS protection services to the City of Red Oak Iowa

The Red Oak Fire Department serves the City of Red Oak and its surrounding unincorporated areas. The Red Oak Fire Departments response district is approximately 360+ square miles. This response district includes areas of Montgomery County and Mills County. In addition to the Red Oak Fire Departments first due response area we also provide Advanced Life Support services to the surrounding areas including but not limited to Elliott, Stanton, Grant, Macedonia, and Villisca. The Red Oak Fire Department responded to 1508 calls in the calendar year of 2012

The Red Oak Fire Department responds to structure fires, grass fires, motor vehicle collisions, motor vehicle collision’s with entrapment, water rescue and recovery calls, emergent ambulance calls, non emergent ambulance calls, hazardous materials, and generalized rescue calls.

Red Oak FD provided mutual aid this morning to the Shenandoah Fire Department, along with several other Page and Fremont County departments, at a rural residential structure fire outside of Shenandoah.

With the extreme heat today, calls for additional mutual aid mean even more. Having additional crews on scene allows firefighters to rotate, recover, and rest before heading back into the heat.

We’re proud to stand alongside our neighboring departments and grateful for the teamwork and support that help keep our firefighters safe while protecting our communities.

On today's date @ 10:27 a.m., the Red Oak FD were dispatched to the 1900 block of E Summit for a reported vehicle fire.

Upon arrival, crews found the pickup to be fully engulfed in flames.

Fire was quickly brought under control.

Vehicle was a salvage vehicle that was being cut up at the time the fire started.

Fireground operations were terminated at 10:57 a.m.

No injuries reported.

On today's date at 4:38 p.m. the Emerson FD, Red Oak FD, Hastings FD, and Henderson FD were called to a residential structure fire north of HWY 34 on 390th st.

First arriving firefighters reported smoke and flames coming from the attached garage-later upgraded to flames coming from the electrical panel inside the garage as well.

MidAmerican Energy was requested to shut-off the main electrical feed to the structure.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the proximity of the area of origin.

Firefighters completed interior and exterior operations with fire damage being isolated to the north garage wall.

Redcross was contacted to assist the occupants.

No injuries reported:

Fireground operations terminated at 6 p.m.

On todays date at 1357 the Red Oak, Stanton, and Elliott Fire Departments were dispatched to 2081 170th for a tractor and haybale fire.

While enroute firefighters were advised that the tractor had become fully engulfed in flames.

The farmers on site had already made a fire break to the north successfully stopping the spread of the fire to multiple rows of other bales.

There was also an excavator on site that assisted with burying the extinguished bales.

Fireground operations were concluded at 4:32p

No injuries reported.

The traffic pattern should be treated like you are at a four-way stop. Each person must stop and take turns proceeding.

Please be aware of the change for a few days.

On todays date at approximately at 6:55 a.m. the Red Oak FD was requested for Mutual Aid with Emerson FD for a large shop fire in the 400 block of Howland Ave.

Multiple Mills County Fire Agencies were also dispatched for additional apparatus and firefighters.

Fire contained to the structure and amount of loss/damage unknown at time of release.

At time of release, Emerson and Malvern Fire Departments were still on scene finishing salvage and overhaul operations.

No injuires reported at time of release.
