The fire truck that comes when you call in Oklahoma is more than likely being driven by somebody who was asleep in their own bed just minutes ago. 🚒❤️

Most of our fire departments in Oklahoma are volunteer. Not paid. Not sitting at the station waiting for that phone to ring. They’re welders, teachers, nurses, farmers, mechanics, business owners, moms, dads, and folks just trying to make a livin’ and take care of their families.

But when that pager goes off, everything stops.

It might be in the middle of a shower, supper with the family, a birthday party, church, or two o’clock in the mornin’. They get up, pull on their gear, head to the station, jump on a truck, and go. No hesitation. No paycheck waiting on the other end. Just a heart that says, “Somebody needs us.”

And around here, we make do with what we’ve got. Trucks aren’t always new. Equipment costs more than most folks realize. Sometimes a department is trying to keep an old truck runnin’ just a little longer while raising money with fish fries, plate sales, raffles, donations, and the generosity of neighbors.

And those calls ain’t always fires.

They’re wrecks on dark country roads. 🚗💥
Grass fires runnin’ with the Oklahoma wind. 🔥
Medical calls. 🚑
Rescues.
Storms.
And those moments when every second matters and your closest help may still be a long ways down the road.

But the hardest part—the part folks outside a small community may never truly understand—is that around here… we know the address before we ever get there.

We know whose house it is.

We know whose mama lives there.
We know whose kids are inside.
We know the family standing in the driveway.

And we go anyway.

We do our job. We help our neighbors. We load back up, head home, and when morning comes, we still gotta get up and go to work like it was just another night.

That’s what being a volunteer firefighter in a small Oklahoma community means.

It ain’t about the spotlight.
It ain’t about the recognition.
It’s about your neighbor callin’ for help and knowin’ you’re gonna answer.

So tonight, hug your volunteer firefighter a little tighter. ❤️

And if you see that fire truck headed down the road, remember there’s a good chance the person behind that wheel left their own family, their own bed, and their own life for a little while…

just to come help yours.

Red Rock, Oklahoma, we’re blessed with folks who answer the call. 🚒🙏🇺🇸

Today we sent 2 of our firemen on a task force with Rock Township, Morrison, Sumner, Marland and Pawnee fire departments to the Gracemont fire in Caddo County to assist with securing lines and mop up to give the local departments some much needed rest. Our guys worked with a crew from the State of Utah Forestry Service. They left around 1130 this morning and at 21:29 are headed home. Thank you Vernon Tohee and Joseph Pratt for volunteering to go and help!!!

We were paged out at 17:18 for a rekindle of yesterday's fire. We arrived to find active fire on the south side backburning out of some brush piles. Our 2 units along with Perry and 2 Sumner units conducted a controlled burn outside of the brush piles to seal them in. Our Apprentice firewoman got to finally fight some fire and Gracie Williams did a great job with a couple of our former Apprentice firemen (Trey and Nate) guiding her. We were done and back in quarters around19:30.

At 15:19 our department was paged to mutual aid Perry Fire on a semi fire turned grass fire near highways 412 and 77 north of Perry. We had 3 brush trucks and a tanker respond. Fire was out and they were back in station around 16:50. We always stand ready to support our neighbors just as they do for us.

Reminder to get out and support the 2 propositions supporting the Noble County 522 Ambulance District tomorrow. This is a continuation of these propositions, not new ones. These are vital to supporting ALL the Ambulance services that serve Noble County, not just Perry. If this doesn't pass and continue it could be very detrimental to people living in Rural Noble County when they need Emergency Medical Service. Please don't vote no because your upset with Perry City politics, this effects everyone in the County, Rural and City and it needs to be passed.

This morning at 05:38 we were paged for a tank battery fire that lightning had struck. We got on scene and sized up what we had and requested help from Perry FD. They responded a tanker with foam to assist. We were done and back in service by 08:30. Thank you to Perry FD for the help!!!

This is a renewal of current taxes. It is not new additional taxes. These 2 propositions are vital to retaining emergency medical services for our area. The funds from this have greatly improved training and equipment for personal who respond to medical emergencies. Please support these with a yes vote August 25th.

As you head to the polls on August 25th, you will see two important County propositions on the ballot. These propositions address the continuation of a millage and a sales tax that help provide funding for EMS agencies serving the citizens of Noble County.
These funds play an important role in supporting the emergency medical services that are there when you or a loved one needs emergency care.
Please take the time to learn about the propositions, understand what they provide for our community, and make sure your voice is heard. Get out and vote on August 25th!
