September 11, 2001 — We Will Never Forget

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the extraordinary courage shown in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost, including the 343 members of the FDNY who answered the call and made the ultimate sacrifice. We remember the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, dispatchers, and countless ordinary citizens who ran toward danger to help others.

For those of us in the fire service, September 11 carries a special meaning. The images of firefighters climbing the stairs of the World Trade Center while others were evacuating remain an enduring symbol of what it means to serve: courage, duty, sacrifice, and brotherhood.

Twenty-five years later, we remember where we were. We remember those we lost. We remember the families whose lives were forever changed.

May we continue to honor them not only with our words, but through our service to our communities and our commitment to one another.

September 11, 2001 — Never Forget.

Bastrop County Emergency Services District No. 1 is deeply saddened by the loss of former Commissioner and Chief Dana Diamond. He ran towards danger so the rest of us can step back from it and that kind of devotion to his community leaves a mark on everyone it touches. He leaves behind not only a legacy of service but also the memories with fellow firefighters and the community he served. His contribution to the citizens of Bastrop County Texas are immeasurable. May his family find comfort in knowing he served our community to make it a better place and may we honor his memory.

Attached is a photo of Dana doing what he loved, serving his community and teaching the next generation.
