Today, October 12, is recognized as Chief Red Wing Day in the City of Red Wing. Since 2014, this annual designation has honored our city's namesake, Chief Red Wing, and paid tribute to the Dakota people who lived here and cared for the land long before European settlement.

Beginning today, the flag of the Prairie Island Indian Community has been added to the display of flags in our City Council Chambers. We sincerely appreciate the partnership between the Prairie Island Indian Community and the City of Red Wing to make our shared community the best it can be.

Mayor Iocco will present the Chief Red Wing Day proclamation at this evening's City Council meeting.
