A critical factor in preventing foodborne illnesses in a food facility is the provision of an adequate supply of hot water for washing hands, utensils, equipment, and the facility itself. Installing an appropriately sized water heater will ensure that enough hot water will always be available.

There are 48 million people in the United States who get food poisoning each year. Knowing the risk factors that can lead to food poisoning is the first step in reducing illness outbreaks. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have identified the top 5 factors contributing to foodborne illnesses:

1) Improper hot/cold holding temperatures of potentially hazardous foods.
2) Improper cooking temperatures.
3) Contaminated utensils and equipment.
4) Poor employee health and hygiene.
5) Food from unsafe sources.
